From the Report of the Visa Office, located at the following Department of State website: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/statisti...stics_3163.html

Here are the top 20 countries issued a K visa. This includes K1, K2, K3, and K4. I thought there would be more of these issued per year, but clearly I am incorrect.
CODE
1    Philippines                       7,633
2    Vietnam                           3,804
3    China - mainland born             3,676
4    Mexico                            3,498
5    Russia                            2,100
6    Colombia                          2,035
7    Canada                            1,459
8    Thailand                          1,376
9    Cambodia                          1,367
10   India                             1,324
11   Ukraine                           1,242
12   Great Britain and North Ireland   1,136
13   Nigeria                           1,082
14   Pakistan                            911
15   Peru                                819
16   Brazil                              781
17   Cuba                                741
18   Dominican Republic                  733
19   Jamaica                             659
20   Laos                                590

Well not everyone who applies makes it to visa issuance. The total number of K-1 visas issued looks to be about 50,000.

Indonesia granted only 145 K visas for fiscal year 2006, interesting.
KHURRAM SERAJ
Only 911 for Pakistan? Thats depressing

Actually, according to that same site; the breakdown of K visas by year is as follows:
CODE
Visa Symbol/Class                   2002    2003    2004    2005    2006
K1 Fiance(e) of U.S. citizen      28,338  25,304  29,658  33,910  30,575
K2 Child of K1                     4,298   3,752   4,694   5,308   5,013
K3 Certain spouse of U.S. citizen  5,078  12,403  13,623  11,312  10,341
K4 Child of K3                     1,294   3,174   3,827   3,438   2,935

So technically, only 30,575 K-1 Visas were issued; but the total number of K Visas for 2006 was 48,864.

Pakistan is roughly 1.9% of the K Visas issued last year. Personally, I'm surprised that Phillipines makes up about 15.6% of the K Visas issued.

Your right I meant all K visas. Used to typing K-1 most of the time I guess.
KHURRAM SERAJ
Judging by the members here from Phillipines here, i am not surprised at that

659 only for Jamaica wow I thought there would be more but this doesn't include CR1's

Interesting stats... smile.gif Thanks for posting

Wow, I knew a lot of K petitions went through Manila but didn't realize it was over seven thousand
TomTom
Only 355 K's for Germany, makes ~ 0.72% Wow and we used to be the biggest minority wink.gif

I remember reading this information and at least it explained to me why there was so little information about the consular process for our consulate. Hungary has issued only 33 for FY 2006. sad.gif Though I'm not sure if this applies to the country where visa was issued, or beneficiary's country of citizenship. unsure.gif

The document title is Nonimmigrant Visas Issued by Classification and Nationality (Including Border Crossing Cards): Fiscal Year 2006,
so that would mean beneficiary's country of citizenship.

391 from Morocco seems very low, especially considering the number of VJ members going through Morocco.

How was that comment prejudiced exactly? Are marriage brokers just an urban legend?
fwaguy
Certainly not an urban legend but where in the stats provided by the government are the facts to support the statement....
Alex+R
A lot of high-fraud countries on that list. That's all I'm saying. Including Brazil. However, Philippines does have a large American population, so, that could be why.

Just for my own curiosity, does anyone know, other than reportedly Manila and Lagos, which ones on the top 20 list are considered high fraud posts?
Yardiewife
I have heard that Jamaica is considered a high fraud country. I don't have any documentation though...would be interesting to read.

does it include in top 20 ?
i really dont think so ,
some senior vj member told me lately india is not among the top frauds
also there has been strict scrutinisation and thus it is leading to late interview dates
bszoom42
Yes, unfortunately the Indian embassy/consulates are considered high fraud posts. It is in the top 20 of all countries getting K visas issued.

One thing to keep in mind is that paperwork is not rigidly enforced in India (corruption and fradulent documentation runs rampant) which makes the embassy/consulate's work very difficult.
tom&tata
The number for immigrant visa issued for Indonesian is suprisingly low.....CR-1 was 123 for total year and IR-1 was 65. No wonder it was easy to schedule/reschedule interview biggrin.gif

All the big numbers come form countries where marriahge broking is a big business.

I am assuming Mexico and Canada may be more normal.

Do not know about India, I assume mainly arranged marriages to males.

It would be nteresting to see the bias between male and female petitioners by country.

The countries high on the list are either a) sources of impoverished women willing to marry American men for a chance at security and love (not saying fraud, just saying that economics is a factor, which can be good or bad depending on the couple) cool.gif countries which border the U.S. and/or are traditional allies and trading partners. Phillipines scores high in both categories.

Ooh, ooh, can I link to the wiki on passive-aggressive or are you guys going to grow up?

India is rampant with immigration fraud. However, immigration fraud from India is primarily in the work-visa categories. Secondarily, in the various family-categories like sibling (that's why they DNA test these days).
