Hello,
I'm sure this question has been asked quite a bit. I've been searching but am still confused. I'm a U.S. citizen and my wife came on a K3 visa. We're trying to figure out the quickest way to get her an SSN. Seems like everything we try to do they require an SSN.

Since my wife wants to work it seems like applying for AOS and EAD at the same time is the best combination for us. Am I correct? Then also, it states in the guide that you can apply through mail or you can walk in (if it is allowed). Is there a difference between walking in and applying by mail? Does one go quicker than the other? Thanks.

walk-ins are not possible any more if I'm informed correctly.
And yes, you do want to apply for both at the same time. After you receive your EAD, you can apply for a SSN.
EAD should take about 90 days. If it takes longer, you can go to your local office and get an interim EAD
