Just an advise.

If you are getting married in Las Vegas and don't live in that state, it takes 1 month for them to mail the finally marriage certifikat.
It says about 7 to 10 days, but delayed our apply for AOS alot.

If we knew this, we would go back to Vegas and pick it up way before this month was gone

I'm pretty sure the Clark County registrars don't allow walk-ins for Marriage Certificates any more, so even if you live in Vegas you still have to wait the month. I may be mistaken on this, perhaps the walk-ins are only not allowed for non-residents.

Maybe you are right.

No because we thought according to the papers that it would only take between 7 and 10 days. But ours actually took more than a month

AFAIK Clark County doesn't have an expedited service, or do you mean some third party company?

I'm surprised that it took so long for you "Mr and Mrs Bird". My recollection was that my marriage certificate arrived within a week of sending off the form. That said, I wasn't in a hurry to get it as I didn't actually file for AOS until after our 2nd anniversary (we just had our third!).

Could see that our check was cashed exactly 1 month later and we had the certifikat a few days after

I believe that you still have to wait those between 7 and 10 days to even pick it up at the office.

They are very busy in Vegas with marriage and the reason for sometimes extra waiting they told us.

hmmm .. I called co clark yesterday and they told me that really its up to the minister. They record the marriage the day that the minister takes it to them and then you can pick it up after that. The woman told me that if the minister will take it to them straight after the wedding then we can the marriage cert then if we go with him. I cant actually speak to the minister until the wedding day, but i know we're gonna have to do a lot of begging!! It's really gonna screw us! I have another question. With the DMV you need to advise them of any name change within 10 days, and you have to advise SSA first because they will check their computers. What will happen if we dont have the marriage cert in time?I also need it so I can get my military ID, get the extra housing allowance and be put on to my fiances insurance! This is gonna make things real difficult. If we dont get it before July 25th then we will send of AOS without it and just wait for the RFE - we cannot afford the fee when it goes up!!!

Right after we was married we recieved alot of commercials by mail about paying extra to them and you would recieve your certifikat in no time, which was about 2 or 3 days.
We didn't do that because we believed to hear from Vegas ofcause.
So we threw all those letters out and did never had this chance again.
It was about $45 and we regret we didn't do it.

So maybe this will be your solution to get the cert in time good.gif
