Happy Monday!!

OK, I might be getting ahead of myself, but I'm one of those that have to have everything lined up in advance so I don't get any surprises...not that I don't like "good" surprises...lol.

I've got my K1 approval and plan on crossing the border July 2 and getting married July 7. Now I've read a million things on locating a civil surgeon...I have found one...but what exactly do they have to do? Is is another full immigration medical? That is where I'm getting confused. I called the surgeon this morning and according to them I'm gonna need a full medical AGAIN?!?!? For a nominal fee of 305.00 for me and 200.00 for each of my girls...?!?

anyone?

thanks

BTW.... I have refaxed Daimler copies of my NOA1 and all my corresponding ppwk that I have here to show my immigration info. Now I will sit back...not relax....and see what they say about that!!!

Have a good one!

I believe most civil surgeon's will try to tell you that you need an entirely new medical, even though there is a chance you do not. This is from the VJ AOS Guide:
QUOTE
If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement (I-693A), not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application.

You will need the civil surgeon to fill out the vaccination supplement for you. Be forewarned though, many civil surgeon's will still charge you an outrageous fee just to do that one part.

When talking to the civil surgeon, quote the instructions in the I-485 form where it specifically says that K1s do NOT need a full medical! All you need them to do is fill out a vaccination supplement form (I-693A or Appendix to I-693).

yes.gif Try to shop around in your area for a civil surgeon that doesn't try to talk you into getting a full medical (as long as your medicals are less than a year old- otherwise they're expired and you do need to get another one done) and will not charge you an outrageous price to transfer your information onto a vaccination supplement form. In some areas, it's easier said than done. Also, do a VJ search as there have been many topics about this lately. Good luck to you!

Do a search on this in the AOS forum. It's covered quite extensively there.

In my own case, I submitted a copy of my vaccination worksheet only, which I had requested at my POE. You do not require another medical if your current one is less than one year old. See Page 4 of Form I-485.

Yep, that is what I did, and the doctor quickly changed from insisting on a full medical to just doing the supplement for $35.

It does pay to "shop around" as others have mentioned. I spent two hours on the phone one afternoon trying to find a CS to do just the vacc supplement. Make sure you have a copy of your vaccinations, and those of your daughters. My husband's mom had to bring this to him from his doctor back home when they flew down for the wedding. We eventually found a CS to do the I-693A and the Tetanus shot he needed for only $50 cash. We had to travel over an hour, but it was well worth it. smile.gif

Best wishes on your travel!

Hey, thanks for all that. I am going to be in rurual NW North Dakota and shopping around isn't much of an option....lol.
My medical was just done in April and I did argue a bit with the nurse and figured screw this...I'll get back to her when I have more ammunition of knowledge on my side.

...thanks again and have a great day!!
