I have a temporary passport (my original was stolen in Italy in January) I need to send in my temp to get real passport. I have not yet sent my 29F howl long should I keep my temporary passport. It expires 2008 and I want to travel to see my fiance in the next three months

If you are the USC, you dont need to send a copy of your passport as proof of citizenship if you have a birth certificate to use instead. If you want to use it for traveling, you should look into getting it renewed ASAP. The state dept has quite abit of backlog due to the new passport rules for travel to Canada and Mexico.

From what I have been reading the passport office is backlogged due to new regulations requiring passports to fly in and out of Canada and Mexico. You may want to get it replaced ASAP and not wait too close to when you may want to travel
