If you have a lawyer than, he/she is your agent, you can still use the shortcuts to speed up the process. Call NVC and e-mail or print out and mail the DS-3032 giving your lawyer as your agent. The rest is up to your lawyer (your agent), he/she will have to send in all the requested docs and forms. I hope you already signed all the forms.

I think what he refers to is the official receipt date of the DS-230 as it was entered into NVC's database. The DS-230 still has to be processed then which typically takes about a week or two, unless they should find a problem.
Do you have any idea how long the waiting time is right now from receiving the case until interview in Frankfurt

Well, look at our timeline below. We are currently waiting for our case to be transferred to Frankfurt. They seem to be fairly quick in scheduling interviews and we expect an interview date somewhere around mid-September to end of September. Overall, our case has been moving along briskly without any delays; I would guess this should give us an idea about the lower end of the waiting time. (Bear in mind, however, that we used James's shortcuts; I estimate that we shaved off about 3-4 weeks from the total time.) So my guess would be that if there are no problems along the way, you can look at 90-120 days from the time NVC assigns the case number to the interview in Frankfurt. (As of today, our case is on its 69th day with NVC.)

So obviously the DS-230 hasn't been generated yet.
All this boils down to is another week we have to wait.

The following week monday (Aug.13) was expecting of the DS230 generated message, but, automated message said we have missing docs. , so, my husband made a follow up call with a live operator at the NVC and found out that our missing document is the DS230 and that the form was sent Aug.13. My husband waited for the real form though I already sent the packet using JSC on Aug.14. And on friday Aug. 17, my husband received a letter from NVC but with a surprised that there was no document not even the DS230 coversheet. The letter contain the same thing as the automated message said, plus submit all the missing documents to proceed with further processing. STRANGE......that the NVC did not send the real packet????????????Now, waiting for the message CASE COMPLETE.

Well I called the NVC today - they are sending a checklist - the auto message said: We have sent you a letter as we found info missing or incomplete on your financial evidence - mailed a checklist letter on august 20th for correction, please return this information to the NVC in Portsmouth New Hampshire.
I called and they said I didn't answer the domicile question (I did but I guess they didn't like my answer perhaps?) and they don't like my income amounts for the last 3 years. Will await the checklist to see what's up - oh well! Don't mean to get off topic here as this is the timeline - just thought I would share the info

Hmm, yes, it is taking a bit long. How did you mail it to them? I mean if you used overnight mail, this includes tracking and then at least you know that it was delivered and somebody signed for it. And with that record you could put some pressure on NVC to investigate why they haven't managed to present the money order for payment yet. It's been almost three weeks and that's quite long even by NVC's standards.
As to tracking your money order, have you tried customer service of Bank of America and asked whether they can track your money order? There must be some mechanism to do that because it's also possible to cancel a money order and get the money refunded (there's a fee, of course, and it takes time).
I know the waiting is nerve-wracking and quite frustrating. Hang in there.

PS: I got my money order at the local Safeway store, and I only found out later that one could actually track when it had been paid. I would recommend that people only buy trackable money orders -- for any purpose, not just for the NVC.

I overnighted it, with signature, etc. They got it August 3 and someone signed for it. So I KNOW they have it. I just don't know why they haven't processed it
I'll try going to my branch tomorrow or calling and seeing if they can tell me if the damn thing can be tracked. I didn't think to get it tracked, but I need to know
And then if it hasn't been paid out, I'll call the NVC and yell at them. Thanks for the help. I just don't know why it takes so long.

I'm sorry this is happening to you guys. You do your best to rush everything in to move it along and poof they mess it up for you.
To be a bit more clear, the NVC told me that there was nothing they could do, but I needed to call the bank and get them to track it and see if it had been cashed (even though the operator admitted that it's not like it would be cashed and not updated in their system). Then I asked her that if it was lost, what should I do? Resubmit the fee? And she said yes. I then asked her about the cover sheet, of which I did not make a copy before sending off and she said they could send me another.
So we'll wait. On Friday (which is also conveniently payday!) I'll get another money order and send it off wehn I get the new cover sheet. And then I'll cancel payment on the first one and hopefully get the money back.

This should be up to date now. The NVC still hasn't cashed our check. I think that they are fairly crowded currently. They told my wife today that they will "maybe do something regarding our case next week". Err... yay... they've had our check now for 21 days (15 business days) so they should have done something to it by now. We where really hoping for a quick processing and thus have filed off everything immediately (and used shortcuts) when we've got the info from NVC. It's been over a year now since we tried to obtain a visa for the first time and if things continue the current pace I can move to NH around early December .
