Are there any specific times/days you can't go through your POE to activate your visa? Was thinking about leaving tomorrow, but now that looks like it might not happen... is the weekend an option?
Cassie
It doesn't matter what day or time you go through the POE. smile.gif

Well, that's not exactly true. Some POEs are not 24 hours, such as some ferrys, etc, but, for the most part, you're OK.

I don't know why the weekend wouldn't be an option...I've crossed through customs at all hours! Midnight, 2 a.m., 3 a.m., 4 a.m., Saturdays! The only time I haven't is Sunday and that's because I avoid travelling on Sunday if I don't absolutely have to.

People are ALWAYS travelling so POE's are probably open 24/7 usually smile.gif

I was assuming she was traveling by plane, so hence my statement. Guess I should have added a caveat. smile.gif

Not traveling by plane. Planning on driving through at Alexandria Bay.

Thanks all! smile.gif

it was highly recommended to me that i cross at one of the 24 hour POE's, and to cross during the week when they are less busy. also, make sure that wherever you cross, you ask to speak with a supervisor. i understand that everyone was new at one time, but i personally would want to make sure that whoever was dealing with my 'immigration' was experienced and knew what to do. i don't want any mistakes made by someone else to affect things for me later on...

Andrea, how do they take to you asking to see a supervisor? I imagine they don't respond very nicely eh? lol

Anyways, if they did make a mistake wouldn't it be their fault. All you do is give your stuff to them so if a mistake is made it should be on their heads.

The guy we ran into at the POE in Calais was very good.. He said he hadn't done one in 3 years, was up front about it, he took his time, asked his super. when he needed help, and he kept saying "i don't want to mess this up for you guys down the road".. He was very aware of how important it was for the paperwork to be right the first time. We had a great experience through our very "unexperienced" POE.

Previously I mentioned I had emailed CBP asking about an EAD at POE....
Anyway, they finally emailed me back, didn't answer my question but gave me phone numbers, thought I'd post them for everyone.
