We filed for AOS today and the interviewer asked if Ahmed was registered for some special group/status because he is from Morocco. Of course, we answered no, since neither of us had ever heard of such a thing. She said it may delay AOS approval because he will have to register towards the end of the process and we would be rcv'ing additional information on it via post. Has anyone else heard of this?

I've never heard of it, we didn't have any problems with AOS. She wasn't more specific about the special group/status?

NC- somethingorother. I asked for the full acronym, but she couldnt seem to remember it or find supporting documentation. I asked it it was a 9/11- related law/group/rule, she said no, just that certain countries' immigrants must be specially registered. They are given a special ID card showing they are registered with the group. She said it's been around since 2002, but had little other info. Really frustrating woman, I felt like we were on trial for murder or something. wacko.gif

It's the National Security Entry Exit Registration System. It's supposed to happen upon entry into the US.

I believe she is talking about this. (Scroll to the bottom to see the most recent history.) However, I think a lot of this was put into place before the photographing/fingerprinting that happens with everyone at the POE.

Here is another link from ICE. This program looks like it is targeted at people who come from the select group of countries on something other than a K visa (like a student or employment visa). Just my two cents.

We had no problem with AOS and we didn't do any special registrations of any kind.
