My fiance Jack had his interview in Cairo August 30th. The embassy said they would let him know with in a month if he would get the visa or not. He got a call from the embassy September 6, they want him to come back to the embassy September 11 at 9:00 a.m. and give his thumb print. Don't know if this is good or means nothing. If anyone knows, please advise.

I don't think it means anything good or bad they proablly just forgot to take it at the interview , where its common to get the index fingers.. Thats my guess its so hard to tell with cairo.

If he was denied....why would they need his prints? Time to gear up for AR/AP, I'd say.

methink this is just a regular AP .. the fingerprint is taken for the two index not the thumb .

it's good coz at least it didn't take them 3 or 4 months to remember that they forgot to take his fingerprint .

nope. there's one couple on the list..i forget who, that's been waiting a good six months and they are both christian.

if not for being muslim then it's for being Egyptian , Arabian , Middle Eastern ...... etc

Hey..................just wondering..............did the interviewer for anyone on this list other than the sparrow outright say to your SO "you are approved"??? I've never heard of Cairo saying that before.

I didn't even know there was a chance he'd be interviewed by a woman or even anyone nice after the horror stories I read here, including yours, Doodle. Maybe she's new and hasn't had time to get mean to the interviewees...and thank God she didn't have pms !!!

I'll be going back through the other Cairo interviews tonight w/ a fine tooth comb, I'm sure I've read them all over the months I've been here but I need a refresher. lol

I'm not on the list but Moh's CO did tell him he was approved at the interview.

I believe Salwa (M+S) had a woman CO. Not sure what her name was though.

Well I guess if we're all in ap we must be approved, though it seems weird to me since if they ever found something in security checks then we wouldn't be approved you know what i mean?

I think they say approved because it's not denied at the consular level.

you know, I was so tired I forgot to ask. When I found out he was interviewed by a woman I was just thankful it wasn't the mean black guy!

What is the difference between AP and AR?

honestly...i don't think a thing.

Don't know if it's coincidental or not, but I've seen a few christian men from Egypt get their visas very quickly.

When we were stuck in AR/AP hell, my senator told me that AP is Administrative Processing.....basically all the security checks and what not, and the AR is Administrative Review when they are reviewing all the infor they received. Don't know if this is right or not though.

they should have been two different things BUT ..
what's the different between the consul telling you ( 2 weeks OR 2 months ) .. isn't it the same thing !
using different words with different meanings ... BUT after all it's the same thing

Advance Parole sounds like something having to do with jail, doesn't it?

Advance Parole is what AP means for a lot of people on VJ, because it's something a lot of people file after their SO arrives in the states and they want to travel back to their home country without being barred from entering the states upon arrival. Like the K1 is a one-time entry visa, so if they leave they can't come back without advance parole. It's something filed during AOS. It has nothing to do with the MENA AR/AP. (Isn't that a relief? lol)

very true about the k-1 ap. we applied for that with nessa just in case because we've seen some real horror stories on vj about the beneficiary not being able to leave the country in a family emergency.

for mena ap, i think ap means "another procedure" as there seems to be so many of them ya'll have to go thru.

for ME/NA it just means Administrative Process

I called DOS today and got a lady that soundlike she was board. I asked to conferm that the security checks were completed last May and she said yes. And it looked like a good case. She did not have any info about what AP they were still doing in Egypt. So still over 7 mo of AP HELL Is there ever gona be a end?

We've heard nothing as of yet neither. Our's in 10 months of AP. Contacting the governor/sendator so far has given us no help. How much longer do we wait????

Im so sorry to hear that... your AP started on my b-day ..... I hope things start moving there soon . it seems that nothing is going on there its a near standstill for everybody. Don't give up it will all work out.

10 months is insane.................and it's been months since the field visit..............some people on the list have been waiting over a year??????............really????...........i can't believe it.

I wonder if ashkia & gotmeahunk were ever issued visas..............they've been waiting for ever.

They came on a couple of months ago to say they still haven't received the visa unfortunately so yes as far as I know they are still waiting as well.

I really wonder what has caused egypt to pretty much stop issuing visas. There has only been 1 in 2 months and on average in the past it seemed like 2-3 a month I hope everyone is back from vacation soon or whatever has happened changes for the better. WTF
I feel like im trapped in suspended animation.

I think Medo and I need to come up with another plan. (sell the house and find a flat in Egypt maybe?) I dont think Cairo is ever gona hand out them visa's. My hope is running out

It is taking forever, I can vouch for that, but let's look at this on the up side. From what I am reading so far, I am not seeing anyone denied a visa. The wait is an eternity, but the visa's eventually get approved. Or maybe I am missing something here. Let's all try and stay positive. It is so frustrating anyway, let alone to start caving in and thinking negative thoughts.

If all of us think positive that the visa's are gonna start flowing, maybe it will help get them rolling. Let's try anyway. I just keep saying WHEN the visa comes (not IF)..............

Comon ladies, hang in there. We're all here for support. And hey, when your other half comes, and you find something he does that aggrivates you, you better think long and hard about how much time it actually took to get him here, and let the little things slide.......lol.

Granted we've only been in AR/AP for 10 days but I just keep telling myself "any day now" because that's what DOS has told me every time I called except the first time.

2, 3 months from now I'll either still be saying that or he'll be here. Or maybe I'm just like this because my house is far from being ready for him. I've been cleaning for like 2 months straight and it looks like I haven't done a damn thing!

Well on that note: The upside is Waleed and I have a flat in his Dad's new house that he has built in the 6th of October City and I can start planning to decorate and furnish it for next summer if the visa still hasn't come.
