I am so miserable right now! My husband had his visa interview on March 20th 2007 in Amman, Jordan, i was there with him. I left a week later because i wasn't allowed to board a plane after that because i was 6 months pregnant. The consular officer who interviewed him told him that if he had to go through a security check, the maximum it would take was 8 weeks. It's going on 12 weeks, and nothing! I call the DOS Visa Center every week, and most of the time they're rude and don't want to give you the time of day. So yesterday, i call and im explaining to the " visa specialist(Even though they know nothing!)" my situation, telling him im 9 months pregnant and i want him to be here within the next 2 weeks, when the baby will come. He tells me that the embassy in Amman had again requested a resubmit or something of that nature?!! This is where im confused, i thought for the most part it would be good news because they're actually tracking the case. Anyone have any clue what that means?! Please keep me in your prayers, as this is a very draining process!!!!

First off the security checks. From my reading here on VJ what I have learned is that they have a series of checks they do. Quite often they aren't completed at the same time. They have time limits. Sooooo what happens is by the time they finish the final one there is a chance that one of the others have expired.

I can't say for sure that this is what has happened on your case, but I just wanted you to see that these things can and do happen. Yes it takes longer, yes it is hard to live in the dark, but you are almost at the end of your journey so hang on.

The hard part is that you have a huge possibility that your baby will be born before he comes. That is rough, I had a friend in the UK that had that happen. They are together now and she is expecting their second one. I know this isn't much comfort, but this won't last forever, be strong. Besides, what a wonderful reunion it will be at the airport as your husband makes his first step onto US soil to be reunited with his wife, and to meet his child. What a beautiful thing.

Here is what I did when i was tired of waiting i emailed the embassy in Amman, I called my emailed my congressman and senetor. I believe it go things rolling cos very shortly after that he was called abnd asked to send in his passport. We interview March 19th. They called my husband in april to ask his brothers and sisters names, birthdates, and how many children they had. The Dos doesn't know much as I called today and they stated that AP is still happening, My husband has his visa in hand as of today, we had a brief delay because the CR1 arrived as they where going to stamp the K3 so we had to wait.

Oh Nadia, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I know EXACTLY what you are going through. My fiance missed the birth of his daughter because of the STUPID Amman embassy too. We are nothing but numbers to these people....they don't realize they have our lives in their hands and are responsible for traumatic life altering events. All I can say is KEEP calling the DOS....if you get someone who is not very nice or helpful HANG UP and call back. I would do that as many times as it took until I got someone nice..I asked for her name so I could request to deal with her every other time I called. The DOS will know when the AP is over and as soon as they tell you, emaill Amman and TELL THEM. They will ask your fiance to mail his passport in via Aramex to get the Visa put in it and then they will mail it back. If he is native Jordanian they might allow him to take it in....he might have to put up a bit of a fight and beg a little but they may let him in and he can get the visa in one day. It's worth a try.
