Claudeth filed for her social security card two weeks after she arrived and received it a week later. Definitely study the AOS guide. Good luck!

I see you're in Florida... don't waste your money and get a driver's licence if you don't need to cause you'll have to get it twice if you get it right away (first time will expire with I-94, so whatever the 90th day is after entrance, and the second time when you get your NOA1 for your AOS application). We waited because by the time we got to the DMV, my licence would have expired within the month, so we said screw it and waited till we applied for AOS. I'll be going to the local DMV this week for my licence with my NOA1 for my AOS application so I hope everything works out... Also, if you're pressing for time with the new fees that will be put into effect, you don't need a social security number to apply for AOS, so if you can't wait for your SSN card to come in the mail, you can apply without it, but I would suggest getting the SSN after you get married so she can have it put in her new name (assuming she's taking yours) instead of having to go there and have them change it. Less hassle that way. Good luck to you.

First thing of all I would go get a driver's license (no offense to the person who suggested to delay that). The reason you get one is for ID purposes. Your passport works, but it is cumbersome to carry around, and it is too valuable to risk being lost or stolen. You will have to get a new license after I-94 expires, but at least you have a form of ID that's accepted everywhere.
Second, you can apply for the SSN without getting married first, my fiance (now husband) did, and got it, and we got him set up with a bank account immediately. Another reason for the driver's license.
Next, depending on your schedule, go ahead and start gather stuff for AOS, don't put it off.
Last, spend lots and lots of time kissing, making out, ... after all - you're finally together!
Congrats, and have a lovely wedding.
I'll be happy to help with any other questions - just drop a note.

I applied for my SSN 8 days after arriving in the states, received it 10 days later, the day after went to the DMV to get my driving permit, want to test for my licence within the next 2 weeks, get married on the 12th July, apply for AOS the day after the marriage, change my name with SSN couple days after marriage, change my name with DMV couple days after changing it with SSN, take my NOA1 from AOS to DMV to get my license extended (I should get it before my actual I-94 expires) and then sit back and wait!! Ive heard that it takes longer to get a ssn after getting married and also it can cause some problems at the DMV. The Arizona DMV told me that the ID that is provided for the license needs to be in the name the license will be insued and may cause problems if you want to get the license in the married name when your passport/visa is in the unmarried name. Hope that makes sense!!!!
