Full Version: Where's my A#??

I don't have my actual card yet, but the greencard they put in your passport. Where on that is the A#? Nowhere does it say "A#". There is a short red number, which is under my MTL#, and a longer number that says "Registration".

I was trying to figure out which is my A# as I was applying for work today, and since my SSN hasn't arrived yet they want my A#.

*Sigh*. I feel like such an idiot that I can't find it.

In good news, the one temping agency I met with said they can get me work pretty much as soon as I say I want it. Right now I said I want to wait until April 10th so I can get a few things organized, but who knows, I may get bored before that. laughing.gif

They also said they've got several permanent positions I'd be good for, so it's looking good. good.gif

Anyhow, if anyone can tell me which of the many numbers on my I-551 in my passport is my A#, I'd be MUCH appreciative! helpsmilie.gif

They wrote my A# right above the I-551 stamp in my passport.

The A#'s are 8 or 9 digits, and may start with a "0" (the number will be 9 digits if it starts with a "0").

It is also on your NOA2 from your visa.

Crap. We don't have the NOA 2 anymore. sad.gif

And there's nothing written in over my stamp. The stamp is just on the page beside the page that has my temporary green card stuck to it. Maybe I'll call the government tomorrow and ask. laughing.gif They'll think I'm an idiot, but oh well! tongue.gif

Brunette -- Yeah, I'm jumping right on it. Partly because I haven't worked in so long since I was doing school until April 2005 and then didn't want to take a job only to leave it on short notice. I'm scarily excited at the prospect of actually working. laughing.gif I have to say, it was hard at times after being on my own, but living with my parents made it tonnes easier to move. I didn't have to give notice on an apartment or sell a house or anything, and since I wasn't working, didn't have to give notice there either. biggrin.gif I wish you the best of luck in everything too. smile.gif And that's messed up what happened to you at the border! They let me activate mine no problem! I even told them that I would be going back the next weekend to get more of my stuff. The guard said it was fine and that I could take my time moving my stuff down if I wanted. I guess it really depends on which guard you get.

Isn't the A number on the back of the I-94? That should be attached to your passport.

People with immigrant visas don't get an I-94.
