Well according to Cairo Embassy...

“You cannot be sure of when you will get your immigrant visa until it is in your hands.”

well geeze.. Thank you Cairo embassy!!!! blink.gif

SO the 2/3 week you told my husband was a bunch of Bull Poopy huh?? mad.gif

"We are also committed to giving applicants who contact us as precise an explanation as possible as to the status of their cases. "

Precise huh?? So your typical generic response - You case is still in AP... This is precise?? Hmm.... blink.gif

"We are committed to processing all immigrant visa applications as expeditiously as possible, given our resources and all relevant laws and regulations."

Ahh.. OKay ?! well all the paper work was APPROVED... My husband Passed the Interview.. AND his security check are done and cleared.. SOOO where is the expeditiously?? blink.gif

"Dear Madam,

Thank you for your email message.

The case is currently pending the necessary administrative processing. The time frame required to process and review individual cases is difficult to predict. Once the process is completed, we will process the case to conclusion.

Well it's not even been 3 weeks yet.... and you know Cairo could take a longgggggg time judging from some of the other timelines. (Sorry if I'm being a downer, but it's the truth.)

I guess just try keep your mind busy with other things. Stressing over this won't help make the time go any faster; in fact it will probably make it seem even longer. Do you have everything ready ? I made a list of stuff I wanted to accomplish before Mahmoud got here -- like cleaning out the closet, or painting the bathroom, or getting new linens and towels, etc. Each day or week I finished a task and crossed it off the list -- it really helped keep me busy and at the same time, it helped make me feel I was making progress toward the goal.

Just like waiting for summer vacation when you're a kid -- it seems like forever. But put this in your head and keep it there: the day *WILL* eventually come, and he'll be heading home to you, most probably later this summer. And then all this #$&*@ will fade away. Cause you'll have a whole new plateful of @%$#! to deal with as you go through AOS tongue.gif

Hang in there.

Not that this will help at this time, but honestly - AP was horrific, but at LEAST you can live relatively normal lives while the processing goes on. We were on AR for just shy of 8 months and while it was difficult and maddening at least he could go about his business as normal - work, etc. The adjustment phase offers little such option save being together. Coming on a K visa really is difficult for so many people due to nothing being available upon landing. Waiting for an EAD, adjustment into married/living together life, more paperwork, etc etc.

the not knowing is quite difficult, but you can look at it as another part of the process which does afford you some different kinds of options.

Believe me i feel your pain. We are 1 year and 1 month into this process. I have not seen my fiance in 17 months, and he has been on A/P for 3 months. He asked me the same question everday too. This is definetely the hardest part of the process. But i know we will get through it. Hang in there the day will come sooner hopefully rather than later when he will get his visa. rose.gif

I think the most frustrating aspect is when security checks are done and they STILL don't give you a freakin' answer!!!

How do you know when the security processing is done? Has the State Dept told you? And now the consulate is dragging their feet?

We are 2 months since a good K-1 interview and entered AP hell. Visa specialist says he is "pending security clearance".

Wow! They are still sending that copy of a letter out eh? Gosh girls, I'm so sorry Cairo still has their thumbs up their backsides. mad.gif I remember when Khallid was told he'd have his visa in 6 weeks! laughing.gif As much as I know you girls probably don't want to hear this....don't believe anything till you see that letter "Visa has been processed to conclusion and he should have his visa within 10 working days." Or better yet....beleive it when your husbands call and has it in their hands! We got to deal with checks being done, receiving the email saying visa would be processed to conclusion only to be put back on a different check again. I had my hopes up many, many times, only to get slammed down. I would hate anyone to have to deal with all the emotional B.S I went through. Stay strong for each other because this time is VERY trying on a relationship. Each of you all are in my prayers. rose.gif

They should have told him 2-3 MONTHS, not weeks. From what I've seen on Cairo, when I was watching timelines more closely, it was 3-4 months as a standard time. You can't do anything but wait as you know. I too found AP the hardest part of the journey. Everything else seemed to have a timeline that you could predict (when your NOA2 might come) or a specific date (the interview). We watched others get their visas in 1-2 weeks during our 3 months wait, and it was heart wrenching at times. Hang in there. Most of this journey is behind you. And once you are together, you will most likely forget all this waiting time. I know we and others who have.
