Has anyone in the US on a visa facing or has faced any criminal legal issues? How were they resolved? What was the outcome?
Nessa
I broke the law once. I had some beers and I drove the car from inside the garage to outside the garage so the garage door wouldnt wake me up the next morning (that was back when I wasn't working and my hubby would wake me up 6am with the extremely noisy garage door, so every night the car was inside the garage and that he'd work the next day i'd take it outside) tongue.gif

Very funny.

I meant anyone experience or know anyone that experienced possible deportation or jail time or something like that because of breaking the law?

I knew a guy on a green card who got busted for DUI...he was given the choice of AA or a criminal record which might cause him to be deported. This was years ago though.

I think the husband of someone on the site has a DUI here? Maybe she will stop by.

That was before immigrating though. I get the impression that the OP is talking about recent offenses?

ETA: Though maybe not, she says here on a visa, and not as a PR.

Jomo's Girl: Can you clarify?
Jenn!
I don't know if you'll find this information useful:

I dont think she's talking about a DUI.. or she would have mentioned it..

but darling.. I know that you are not suppose to get in big trouble.. because if you do you have to go to court..Twice ...court for whatever charges they gave you and then Immigration court.. which is like being charged twice..

it depends on what the person did really..

If its something really bad... or a criminal offence, its really up to the immigration judge to forgive you or not..

it goes even deeper.. to much to explain..

DUI is not a crime, silly. It's just frowned upon. You're really only not supposed to drive when you've had more than 10 pints. whistling.gif

well, 10 pints = to that 'sweet spot" .....unable to walk but just fine to drive...

In the factory that I worked at in Mexico, two of the operators were deported. They both had green cards and both had gotten into trouble. One of them stabbed a guy because he harrassed his son and had actually kicked his son in the head. ( He worked with this guy and they had bad blood between them) The son was in the hospital for a while too. The judge said that since he was not a citizen, he would be deported. Nothing happened to the other guy except for being stabbed. The law did nothing. The other guy was caught with drugs and a gun and I think he had done previous time as well. I can't remember. Of course, these are here-say, but they are first-hand stories that the guys told me. Good luck to you. I hope all will be ok.

It's not me. Someone I know. Their SO was caught shoplifting.....a $40 pair of shorts. She's frantic. I'm trying to help.
