Mala,
My husband recently had to get a whole new passport because his name was spelled wrong in the one they just issued. They made him start the application fee all over again. The whole process from beginning to end, including getting the pcc clearance stamped in it took one week. He got it under the Takal (i think that's how it's spelled) scheme. Good luck.

Mala,

Go With what the consulate suggested to you and you'll be fine. It doesn't hurt to get it in an email from them as well.

Mala,

Do not worry about the passport and name change. If you have concern, just talk to the Embassy and explain, I am sure, they will tell you what to do. My wife applied for her passport after our marriage, so I asked her to apply for the passport with her married name (my last name).

My wife got her passport 3 yrs ago but luckily our last name are same. Thank God!!

I don't think you have anything to worry about, you should be able to use the old passport.

Good to hear. All along, I have been telling you that you will be ok, even if you don't change your name on your passport. Now, you heard from Embassy...Great.
