Hi guys,

I know that many of you are sick of seeing the same questions over and over again but I would like to know if I have submit the originals of my w-2's or copies. I am also having trouble finding the 2005 year, will this be a problem for the interview. I have everything else but I can'f find the last three years. Thanks!

I apologize if it is redundant

You need the last 3 years of tax transcripts. So call the IRS to get a copy of your 2005. They were pretty hard on the finance part to many couples at the interview. Also all you need is copies. No original is needed.

It depeands on which country are you interviewing on, every consulate is different. Here in Austria they just asked me for the latest one, and they were ok just with the copies of his w2's. Why you dnt give them a call and ask them about it wink.gif

If you get the transcripts from the IRS you won't need copies of the W-2s.

Please be careful when making a blanket statement such as this. This is a consulate specific area and while it may be be true in your consulate situation or even in most consulate situations, it may not be in every consulate situation.

I agree call the IRS and get the last 3 yrs transcripts. Kingston will require all of them.

I am glad someone asked this question as I was about to! I understand that I can send in copies of my W2's and tax return information from last year. I also have the IRS transcripts for the last 3 years. I am going to have the copies notarized just to be on the safe side as I was advised to by another VJ member.

Why? What will notarizing of the tax returns do? Notarization does not attest to the validity or accuracy of any document. I am always curious as to why people do this.....

That is merely what the other VJ member reccommended as she had gone through the K1 process last year.

FWIW, I have been through the process too and I notarized absolutely no documents....

For some reason people think that notarizing a document does something magic to it when in fact it does nothing other that attests to a signature... nothing else.

I know you have and I appreciate all your advice! BTW, welcome back! Anyway, bottom line is I want to make sure that all my ducks are in a row and that the embassy in Kingston has no room to mess with us! lol

Thanks. I called IRS and they will be sending me both the originals and the transcripts for the last 2 years. It takes approximately 10 days for me to receive them. I'm not sure if you can pay to rush order them but I had no need because we don't even have our interview date yet.

Also,

The strangest thing happened to me with the kingston embassy. We emailed the embassy for a date to pick up packet #3 because it was taking forever. They told me that the pkg was mailed May 1st and that my fiance would be able to pick up pkg #3 June 28th ( which is his birthday). Then someone else emailed me back saying that he could pick it up pkg #3 July 3rd @ 1:30pm. He eventually recv'd the pkg on May 30th and we turned in the DS-230 form immediately after (reached embassy June 4). Do you all think that I should send another email requesting that the July 3rd appointment be considered for the interview date? I figured it was worth a shot since it is already penciled in as an appointment. Or, should I just let them go ahead and schedule a new date for the interview as they normally would?

Thanks everyone. I love this website!!!

The consulate in Brazil told me I only needed last year's tax return and W2s (I asked).
They ONLY wanted copies - we actually had to leave the consulate to make copies and then go back for our interview.

You can get them notarized if you'd like... But you don't have too. I went thru the interview in March, my tax returns were not notarized, I gave them three years of returns, copies of my W-2 forms and the transcripts.
