Hello.. Im new to the forums but i find your forums friendly and very helpful.. I do have a question related to fileing a K3 as i understand it when you file a k3 the i230 is submitted at the same time great no .. My wife and i are getting married in san salvador the 30th of June.. Should i fill the paper work out prior to the wedding to speed things up maybe with a k1 and then have a change of status? which would be the better way to start or the quickest to get things moveing in the right direction.. any help or advice on this would be appreciated smile.gif

You, the USC, will file two petitions. The first is an I-130. The second is an I-129F. Some have been successful filing both petitions together. The instructions say to include proof of filing the I-130 when you file the I-129F and they are to be mailed to different addresses, even though they will end up at the same place, based on current procedures.

This is explained in detail in the guides. I've never heard of an I-230.

The rest of your post is really confusing. You can fill out papers anytime you want. K3 is for married people. If your plan is to marry in her country, you cannot use the K1 route. It requires marriage in the USA. You can fill out the papers anytime you want but you can't file the I-130 until after you are married. Yes, it does speed things up to do all the paperwork when you are together, so you don't have to mail things back and forth for signatures.
