Hello,
I'm just wondering if anyone has ever gone to another application support center than the one on their biometrics appointment letter.

I did this several times a couple of years ago when we were going through the adjustment process of getting my wife her permanent residence status. We lived in New York originally, and so that's where all our USCIS mail went (to my parents house). But we moved to California, and because I was afraid of messing up the whole application, we continued to receive all of our mail in NY. My parents just overnighted us the biometrics appointments (there were at least 3 of them if I remember right), and I just called the 1-800 number, gave them the receipt number, and made an appointment at the nearby local CA office. No questions were ever asked, either on the phone or at the application support center. Then, when we finally got our interview date and time in NY, that was the only time we actually went to NY.

I'm now in a similar predicament. The reason is that my job has us moving quite often. Here's the problem. I just received my NOA for the I-751 that I filed for my wife. Based on most people's timelines for the VSC, it looks like I should get the biometrics appointment soon. I'm still in Virginia for 2 more weeks, where all our mail is being sent to by USCIS. My wife has already moved up to NY, where we will be for about a month, then to Hawaii (my job has me moving around a lot).

I just filed online the address change for my wife to NY (no problem, got the confirm #). When I tried to also proceed and change the address for our pending case, I was not able to. When I entered the receipt number and the form type (I-751), it said that my receipt number did not correspond with the form. (I also looked for the form CRI89, which is what my receipt says its called in the computer, but that type of form is not an option on the change address thing.

From looking at all of the timelines on this website, I'm guessing that I'll be getting my wife's biometrics appointment letter here, hopefully in the next 2 weeks before I depart Virginia for good. I'm thinking I'll just wait, hopefully get the biometrics appointment (which will have her going to the local office here in Virginia), and then take that receipt number and make an infopass appointment for the actual office that she's close to up in NY.

Or, do I call USCIS this week, tell them about the address change to NY, and risk getting everything screwed up?

My hope really is that I get the biometrics appointment this week and I'll just call up or schedule her for a NY appointment. I did that a couple of years ago when we were first going through applying for permanent residence. We lived in CA, but were still getting our USCIS mail in NY. I always had my parents in NY forward us the biometrics appointment letters and we just went to the local CA support centers.

Sorry, a little confusing I know, but any advice would help.
thanks.
