So, I know that as of 1 May 2007, the medical for London filing went up again to £200. But in the Packet 3 we just received yesterday, it still says the price is £170.

But anyway - yay for receiving Packet 3! We're going to be moving at the end this month to another flat in the same area, but we don't know our new address yet. So we're going to hold off on returning anything until then. We don't want to make the move to the states until January so we can afford a bit of a delay at this point in the process.

Well, I should say that we won't be able to make the move until January (due to financial reasons and because of my English mother-in-law), because we would be happy if we were able to move much sooner.

Oh no, my English MIL is fantastic - it would just break her heart if we left before Christmas.

I'm glad you like yours -- my current (and FINAL!) English MIL is a total sweetheart and I feel rotten that I am taking her baby boy away. Well, occasionally I feel rotten!

Hehe. It's okay. I wasn't exactly clear!

Sometimes I feel rotten for taking my MIL's baby boy away from her. When we first told her we decided to move to the states early next year instead of summer of 2009 like we'd been saying for a while, I spent about an hour on the phone with her with both of us crying. sad.gif She's handling it quite well by now though, and giving her another Christmas should really help too.

My English MIL is horrible. I wouldn't care if I never saw her again. She's a passive aggressive, structured, closed-off b!tch of a woman. I've never seen her hug my husband or tell him that she loves him. And what's more tragic...he thinks her behavior is normal. He has a lot to learn about healthy family relationships.

Homesick American,

I know exactly how you feel about your MIL, my Taiwanese MIL is such a selfish vindictive person. She's the reason my wife and I eloped and ultimately decided to live in my home country (the US) rather than hers. I envy all those who have sweet MIL's. Why can't life be more simple?
