Well, we're busy trying to get everything ready so we can send off the Notice of Readiness (more on that below). So my hubby went ahead and scheduled his medical exam for tomorrow morning. However, it seems that you're supposed to wait until you've been scheduled for an interview to do the medical. Anybody know if this matters?
Called the embassy in Dublin about this, and the woman seemed to be suggesting that we should send in our Notice of Readiness and application for the visa right away, even if we don't have all the documents yet. And she said it was fine to do the medical now because it's good for a year.
But she was just the person answering the phone, not a consular officer.
And now I'm realizing, we don't have the forms that need to be completed by the doctor. Maybe the doctor has them??
Anybody know about these things?

The Doctor has all the necessary forms. You just need to bring your passport and two 2x2" passport photos. The lady you spoke to is correct, just send all the required forms back to get the process moving along. Make sure you have your Garda cert as this can take up to 1 month to get.
Good Luck

Hi Lizzy,
My wife is the USC and we'll be DCFing via the Dublin Embassy also. I've done my medical already (Blackrock Clinic about two weeks ago). As Mand said, the doc has all the forms, your hubby just needs to bring 2 immigrant type photos, his passport and the fee. Took a week before I could collect the results.
Since I got the cert from the Gardai late last week, I will be sending in my Notification of Readiness over the next few days. Let us know when you get the interview and how it goes, cos I'll be doing mine soon afterwards! Best of luck!!

I got my medical done in Cork and had the results, x-ray and brown envelope the same day. Maybe the Dublin appointed Docs do it different?

Thanks for all the replies. That is a relief.
My hubby has sent off for his police certs from the UK, since he was born/raised there, but we havne't done the Garda one yet. Guess we better get onto that. The lady on the phone seemed to think we should send the notice of readiness whether we've got everything or not. She said we can always reschedule if everything hasn't come by the date of the interview.
So I guess that's what we'll do.
Thanks again!
I'll let you know when the interview comes....
