No. When you apply for it, include a brief letter indicating why you think you will need it. When we filed for my wife we indicating that her mother was pretty old and sick and we wanted to have it just in case my wife had to travel before getting her green card. It can also be used for business travel, but that would be a less likely option since your new wife probably won't be working when you file for AOS.
