Big ol' CONGRATS to you, HA! good.gif Wow, that is soon (not soon enough for me -- it's our interview date blush.gif ) but I'm sure you'll get it all done somehow. From what I've read from you, you are one tough cookie and you'll pull through just fine.

Are you going to stick around in the UK at all after then or are you on the first flight out of Dodge City after closing?

Get to PACKIN', you!!! Congrats. Dan's house is scheduled to close on June 7 - such a relief. Things definitely move at a slower pace there, or at least his did!
TheZilla
Holy crap, that was so fast! Last time I looked on here you were just falling in love with the house, and now it's yours!?! That's fantastic. Congratulations on your new digs smile.gif

No no no, we're selling our house here in the UK...we're not in TX yet. blush.gif

I WISH we were closing on one of those gorgeous houses! wub.gif

At least we'll make a pile of cash on this house...£75,000 after estate agent fees.
TheZilla
Ah, the Zilla sees now, hehe! It's equally fantastic news. The packing up and moving must be manic! Good luck with all the packing up and finding a new house of your dreams smile.gif

We don't even have boxes yet!

Luckily the people buying this house want the furniture too, and we had not planned on bringing it with us anyway so we're only taking our personal items.

I've been combing through them recently and putting what we don't want aside so we can give it away, to lessen the load. I donated 3 trash bags stuffed with clothing just the other day. good.gif

I hear you. My friend was in a similar situation, he sold his condo much faster than expected and had about two weeks to pack up and ship out. It started with relaxed list making and inventory, but toward the end it turned into piling stuff into what we called 'Random bags of crap" just to get it packed up, hehe.
charles!
ya better get busy biggrin.gif

Selling my house in London and getting all packed up was bloody awful and very stressful. I had to get rid of the furniture, sort out what I was shipping over, pack up the remainder and spent my final two weeks running around like a maniac...

I don't envy you H_A but.....think how much closer you are to getting back to the USA. good.gif

Oooh, thats good news, congrats!

That is good news HA. Do you have you flights booked?

It can be done you just need to be focused, and of course you know it is worth all hassle. Congrats

Congratulations - that's what 6 weeks from offer to completion? That is great! I'd kill for a sale that quick right now! (Although I'd stick to killing things that it's generally okay to kill of course...)

I am moving to the US on 30th June if all goes as planned, so I can really feel those 'oh my god I have to pack' vibes.

That's great news! At least the exchange rate has held up for you too. Good luck with the move.

6 weeks is average in the UK if everyone does what they should do when they should do!!

Six weeks from offer to exchange yes, if all goes well.

Personally I like a few weeks between exchange and completion to give me time to book removals, sort a load of stuff out, that sort of thing.

We will be testing this over the next few weeks - we have keen buyers and I am certainly a keen seller!

Unless you are unlucky enough to be caught in a huge chain. Luckily, I had first time buyers purchase my home in London, so it was relatively stress free. They were also really nice people too, always helps.
Candace
Awesome news HA, fingers crossed you get to complete as planned! smile.gif

It's so stressful doing it all so quickly but the good thing about completing is you know you have to get your arse out of there so by hook or by crook it gets done! I ended up throwing various items that didn't 'belong' in any of the boxes I had packed into my car at 4am the morning I moved - I ended up with a strange variety of items (facial sauna, such a good idea, used about one and a half times; various adaptor plugs for mobile phones I hadn't even owned for three years; 142 emery boards..) in the back of my car for about six months but I did get out in time!

ajames79
so hows it going?? Did you pack a lot this weekend??
