Folks,
Is it my imagination thats VSC is really slow in processing all applications starting from early December onwards..They do a have a backlog as the applications that are supposed to be approved in 30-60 days are not approved yet...
What do you think..?

Sorry to hear that, but it not unusual for service centers to change speed randomly. I would, however, not call that a backlog. CSC is still way behind VSC and even if you wait 3-4 months for approval you're better of than those who go through CSC.

As to 30-60 days approval time, that seems a fairly low estimate for I-130s given that USCIS estimates 999 days (which is of course even more fictive). Good luck and I do hope you hear something positive from VSC soon.

VSC is not processing I-130's as fast as they were at the end of 2005 where it was not unusual to see 30-60 day approvals. Things change and it doesn't necessarily mean they are backlogged, they are possibly right now giving priorty to other petition types. It will swing around again...it usually does. If you received a notice stating 30-60 days then that has definately been ammended to a longer time frame as can be seen by the processing dates. Those dates that you say where approvals should of been granted already, are a guideline and at any time that can change. VSC is only now processing I-130's with receipt dates of December 03 which is what you should go by....not the notices that have said 30-60 days.

I know it is frustrating waiting and I hope you hear something soon.

It would probably help to get some publicity about this sort of thing. Most people don't have any idea what you go through to get a visa, so it would let them know and hopefully create public outrage.

This would, in turn, embarrass the bureaucrats in charge at the USCIS who would then (hopefully) feel pressure to speed things up to make themselves look better and get the heat off of them. Since it has a monopoly on visas and we can't just screw them and go to a competitor, this is the only kind of power we have as consumers.
