just curious....
personally I like Christian Bale as Batman.....
I thought Michael Keaton was too goofy, Val Kilmer was too serious, George Clooney was a good combination of them both but the movie he was in sucked...
And I think Batman Begins is the best Batman movie so far... It was more serious then the other Batman movies...
I liked Jim Carrey as the Riddler...
It will be interesting to see Heath Ledger as the Joker in the next Batman movie.... I didn't really like Jack Nicholson as the Joker.....

Definitely Christian Bale and Batman Begins. The first Batman movie is a close second, but the rest of that series, especially the last two, were way too campy. And the squabbling between Batman and Robin was really annoying. Batman Begins got the story back on track, and is more believable.

the only thing I thought was odd with Christian Bale as Batman was that weird low voice he used when he was Batman

Michael Keaton in Batman 1, Jack Nicholson.
(of course, Kim Basinger as Vicki Vale didn't exactly hurt it)
Batman Returns seemed to be nearly plotless (or mishmash-plot). Didn't see any of the other movies, though I have seen Adam West in the TV reruns (IMO, he was suited for just that format).

Batman Begins was a better development of the character's mythology than any of the other movies. The key to a good superhero movie is to make the external threat posed by the villain reflect the characters internal emtional struggle. Tim Burton did a pretty good job, but even there the Batman character took a definite back seat to The Joker, who was more interesting to Burton than the title character.
Batman Begins kept the focus on Bruce Wayne/Batman pretty well - and the story was as much about his character's self-discovery than it was trying to save the world from cartoon villains with the aid of special effects (which is the problem with the Val Kilmer / George Cloony efforts). Of course Christian Bale is a much better actor than any of those guys put together... but then they did have a pretty heavy-weight cast to back up the (very good) screenplay.
BTW I still quite like the campy Adam West incarnation - the movie in particular was hilarious, watching Batman run around trying to dispose of a bomb off the end of a pier, but having to run over to the opposite side so that a family of innocent ducks don't get blown up. Or Robin's tirade about alcohol abuse "I'd rather be DEAD than not be able to trust my own eyes!"
Looking forward to The Dark Knight next summer. Heath Ledger is playing The Joker...

I'm looking forward to the Incredible Hulk - Marvel was pissed that the last movie was crap so they bought back the rights from Universal to make it their way. Edward Norton is playing Bruce Banner.
Iron Man (with Robert Downey Jr) is out next summer.
I like most comic book movies - but I can't stand The Fantastic Four.
Superman 1 is still the best Superhero movie IMO, cemented after the release of the directors cut with all that Marlon Brando stuff.
Didn't much like Superman Returns - Brandon Routh was good, but the movie was just boring.

I was seriously disappointed with Kevin Spacey's role in that. He is a fantastic actor, a brilliant baddie and yet they gave him nothing to work with script wise. He could have been a scenery chewing maniac yet they only gave him ONE good line.
Such a waste.
Kate Bosworth was woefully miscast as Lois Lane. No fire, no feistyness, just blahhhh and FAR too young. Brandon Routh was the only high point really.
To the question at hand, Christian Bale without a doubt. I thought Batman Begins was brilliant.

Yeah - the whole problem with Superman Returns is that pretty much nothing happens. You don't find out where Superman has been (except on a 20 year waste of time), and the characters mythology is badly mis-handled. They even slotted in old footage of Marlon Brando from the original. Shame really because Bryan Singer is a good director - he pulled out of doing X-3 because of Superman. Shame really - as both Superman Returns and X-3 were mediocre at best.
BTW I hadn't seen Superman 1 for years - we rented it on Netflix a few months back and it is really really good. The extended version adds a lot of material to the prequel on Krypton and some of the special effects work is amazing.

Oh man I'm really behind in my Batman movies. Guess I'll have to remember that next time I'm looking for movies to rent. I have my best memories of Batman from the original Adam West series, so I voted for him. But when I see an old episode, it reminds me how easy it was for TV studios to entertain way back then.
Incidentally erekose, I agree on the Superman 1 movie. I remember seeing it with some friends on the first showing. That was one of the best movie experiences I've ever had (maybe a little behind Star Wars first showing). The movie was entertaining and of course the audience clapped/laughed/cheered at everything. First day showings are great!
