JaEnglishGirl
I was 5th in line, 3rd for an immigrant visa.
MAKE SURE you bring your appointment letter, girl in front of me hadn't got hers, last I saw like 30 mins later she was still standing at the checkpoint searching for it sad.gif

Got in the building, the girl there tried to give me a non-immigrant number, luckily I queried it!!
Waited for about 20 mins, then called up to a window, the guy there took my photos, birth certs, police certs, passports, copies of all originals, I-134 and supporting documents, consent form from my son's father.
He then had me go pay the two lots of visa fees, one for me and one for my son.
Fingerprinted me but not my son.
We then waited about an hour, son was EXTREMELY bored, they took his Gameboy outside sad.gif
Finally called me for the interview.
He fingerprinted me again, and had me raise my right hand and swear that I was telling the truth.
He then had me write my fiance's name and sign the bottom of the DS230s.
He asked me four questions

1.Where did we meet
2.When and where did we first meet in person
3. Had my fiance been to London
4.How did I plan to support myself once I lived in the States

He then said everything was fine and I was approved!!

I said to him, 'Are you SURE you don't want to see all my phone bills, cards, emails?'
He laughed and said he had no doubt that I was genuine smile.gif
But he said he'd look at the phone bills if I wanted lol....

He then told me to make sure I didn't open the envelope that said 'do not open', and told me if it got lost, we'd have to refile, there's no copy of the contents....
Asked me if I had any questions so I asked him about the consent form for unmarried parents.
He said they applied US law and one would ALWAYS be needed, if the person doing the interview forgot to ask for it, more than likely the Embassy would write to them and ask for it.
He did say that yes, it should be clearer, but it was a DEFINITE requirement!

Congratulations - sounds like it all went very smoothly indeed! kicking.gif kicking.gif

Oh, and good luck on the plan to beat the fee increases... I'm sure it can be done! I sent off our AOS stuff last week and until I see the cheques clear, I'll be having nightmares about USCIS returning the whole lot to me because I forgot to sign a form or something - eek! unsure.gif

Congratulations ! That's great news.
One question... you say they took your Son's Gameboy off Him. Were you able to take anything into the Embassy? What about mobile phone's and overnight bag. Do they store it for you at the door?
Good luck for the future.

They took my mobile phone off me (they saw it in my bag when it went through the x-ray and asked me to take it out and gave me a cloakroom ticket so I could get it back later) - but I've seen at least one other person on here say that their phone wasn't taken off them, although that might have been an oversight! They only have a small hut so don't think they'll keep your whole bag (if they took everyone's bags just for being 'big', they'd run out of room pretty quick...), just anything in it that they don't want you to take into the embassy - I think that would include cameras etc. I'm sure other people can confirm whether you'd be allowed to take your overnight bag in with you (I only lived about a mile away, so pretty much only had my purse, door key & interview-related stuff with me!), but my guess would be 'yes'. smile.gif

Okay Thanks. That's not so bad then. I was thinking they didn't allow you take anything beyond the door.

Yay!!!!!

Congrats! You must be so excited!
psho
Wonderful news! You must be over the moon!

Congratulations seems as though it was relatively painless. At least through the AOS process you will be together it is so hard to be apart and separately waiting for news. Good luck!! hope you do get your AOS started before the fee increas takes place!

Yes, they took my mobile off me, but I did see a couple with a small suitcase, the size of carryon luggage.
Thing is, do you REALLY want to risk it rather than leaving it at a hotel?
The Embassy does say specifically that they can't store luggage.....Also was a pain to walk ALL the way back a round the building to pick up the stuff stored!
(if you're lazy like me lol!)

When I was sitting waiting to be called, it suddenly hit me on how much my life depended on 5 minutes of someone else's time, was a SCARY thought!!
I kept reassuring myself that I haven't ever heard of a denial through London apart from one poster, but then I thought I could always be the odd one out!
But I guess nothing will ever be as hard and as stressful as this, not scared of AOS at all, the baby's birth cert alone should get us through!

Congratulations!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif I've been wanting to post that all day but I've been stuck in a conference... Yay!!!

Thanks again for all the comments smile.gif

I read somewhere in the archive about a couple, the lady was the USC and her partner had I think had accepted a caution for having a small amount of marijuana in his pocket while going abroad....I think that was the gist of the story!!

JaEnglishGirl
Could hardly sleep last night, dreamt about the passports being delivered.....
This morning they were delivered at 7.45!!!

But it doesn`t end there.....

Inside the black plastic courier bag there were

My passport, all details correct on visa
My son`s passport, all details correct
Two manila envelopes saying only to be opened by immigration etc
A reciept and notice of approval for SOMEONE ELSE`S I-130 visa application!

So had a nail biting 45 mins until the embassy opened and they assured me that the reciept must have landed there by accident.
Asked them what if the envelopes weren`t ours???
They said that the POE would `parole` me into the US and contact them.
Also told me to turn the envelopes over and written in pencil were me and my son`s names...Also gave me the CO`s name as a reference.....
Oh,and very nicely asked me to mail the other person`s stuff back!
JaEnglishGirl
Photos of the contents!

JaEnglishGirl
And....

elmcitymaven
How nerve-wracking about that I-130 receipt! I'm sure they're right, that the receipt just got in there by accident. Thanks SO much for the pics! good.gif

Oh, and by the way, CONGRATULATIONS for like the umpteenth time! kicking.gif
