Happy last Wednesday of May everyone. I, for one, would like to say how sad I am to see that Julianna's countdown has been closed. I have read her blog religiously since I found it, and I greatly enjoyed all the little tidbits of information, silly thoughts, and ramblings about the things she was doing to prepare for her husbands arrival. Everyone is different as we all know. What may be important to one, may not be important to another. After all the time they have waited to start their lives together, I thought it was great that she could still have any humor left in her. To think that she had any intention to deliberately make a nasty comment about is, in my opinion, just ridiculous. It is sad that anyone found the content offensive.
When I found vj, I thought it was such a cool idea. People from all over the world getting together to share their own experiences, being supportive of each other. That any one else would care about my frustrations, fears, anticipations, was just amazing to me. To be able to post comments, ask questions, gather information.
Now it seems that it has become a place for nasty comments, and on board fighting. In the end, who really cares if my husband gets his visa? Who really cares if he is denied? Who cares if he goes thru 2 weeks of AP, or 12 months? No one except myself.
So, from the heart, I wish everyone here who is waiting the best of luck. I hope God blesses all of you with the things you want, and that which makes you happiest.
I don't know if I will continue to read vj, or to post on vj, not that I think any one really cares.

Well... I for one care what happens in your case..because I joined vj to get and offer support to others going through this frustrating and sometimes heartbreaking process. I was enjoying that thread greatly because it was a lighter side to everything we have to go through. I'm a religious blogger and some of my stuff is probably inane to most, but the great thing about that is that if you dont want to read something or you consider it a waste of your time...your mouse didnt click there by itself. As a southern girl born and bred my mama taught me if you cant say something nice dont say anything. Sometimes, people ask for opinions and input...and at that point yes you do open yourself to everyones different personalities and ideas, but otherwise..... whistling.gif

I am sad to see things haven't changed much here. I don't come on as often now that my husband is here but I do search for people who need good advice and help.

Do as I do, if you see a thread turn nasty just move on without reading or responding. We have the option to not get involved. There really is a great amount of knowledge and help here for those still waiting so don't throw that away.

Guess I was the evil biatch yesterday diablo.gif - I'm calling hormones on that one! devil.gif Goodness knows I'm not usually shaytan, but I was bored and feeling frisky! girlwerewolf2xn.gif and it spilled into the keyboard!

well, I am here too. the nasty threads are a drag but I've been a VJ member for more than 3 years and its still an addiction even though I dont post as much. To echo what others have said, MY mamma taught me that sometimes silence is golden smile.gif
I just like to keep up with everyone!

I've "left" before too b/c I was sick of other peoples crap.... unfortunately, I'm not perfect. People will do what they will do - I'm not the only one who has "caused trouble" before... in fact, it's a rarity.
but WHATEVER.......

hey Noura, at least you fessed up and took some responsibility for stirring the shet, its more than most do......

I recently started a thread about MENA going for a closed thread record. I guess there is a record to be had here. The nice thing about it is that Charles and I, the oft scapgoated for causing problems here, are demonstratively not causing the problems that are shutting down the threads. I have nothing to take responsibility for when it comes to the height of b!tchiness, and never did. Thanks for making that clear.

Julianna is such a sweetheart and it is a shame that her countdown thread had so deteriorated to the point where the thread was closed. Anyway, Julianna as you are anxiously awaiting your reunion with your hubby and doing your cleaning and making preparations, please know that there are people here who genuinely are excited for you and hope you have a happy and wonderful life together.

P.S. I hope you aunt is OK, I know you were dealing with a few issues yesterday and one can start to feel a little overwhelmed.

i feel the same way, tammy. vj seemed like a cool place to come and talk about your problems, concerns, happiness, blab about nothing, ....etc. its practically annonymous! but there are some here that make others feel bad for giving too much information out. i can't blame julianna for taking her blog info down.
i LIKED that fact that i could come here and talk about anything on my mind (personal or not) because i could get an unbiased opinion on things. something that is hard to get from friends and family. and i can see lots of vj members enjoy it for the same reason. why is there so much negativity? i guess vj was a good idea, in theory. but i guess it might be better to stick to strictly VISA questions...

anyway, happy wednesday. rolleyes.gif

Did anybody see my chocolate flan cake recipe in the sticky post up there? Let me know how it turns out if you try it.

It may be wise to stick to visa business, but what a nice place it would be to come and enjoy yourself without being bashed or made fun of. If people do not approve of a post or thread, then why not just advoid it.

Everyone have a wonderful rest of the week, and enjoy your weekend! I'm excited because a cause near and dear to my heart is getting more awareness (SAVE DARFUR!).

Sara I agree with you. I don't post as often as I did but I like to check up on people when I can and maybe offer up some support or assistance. You were one of the first who extended your help to me years ago. Next month marks 4 years that I have known Abdou and two years since he arrived and we were married. There is much to go through during this visa journey, before and after they receive their visa. It sure would be nice to see such bitterness or lack of something better to do meanness leave the board but for quite some time, certain individuals just can't let it be. We all know we can ignore things we don't agree with besides adding comments to threads to cause something others enjoy to be closed. Believe me, they know what they are doing and just don't care. It's easier to be nasty than nice. The internet is full of people who love trouble.

Anyway, I wish the best to everyone and just keep on posting and learn to ignore those who just want trouble. Just make the most of VJ; it can be a great source of information with an added bonus of good people who become friends.
