In DS230 item #32a it asks if you have applied for SSN number before - Yes or No. We have No for this. But in second part it says, Would you want to apply for SSN - Yes or No?

What should be filled for this item? This DS230 has to be given to the consulate during the K1 interview. After fiancee comes here we need to apply for her SSN.

But I am confused as to what should be filled up at this stage for this question. Would appreciate all help with this.

It doesnt matter what you answer with a K-1 visa, you will not be granted an SSN. Your fiancee will have to apply for one after entering the US.

i dont know how the embassies in russia deal wiht the k1 and the necessary forms but first find out if you really have to fill out part II of ds 230. in germany they only require part I and once you have your interview they will fill out part II together with you.

I answered yes to that. I will be filing for a SSN after my return to the US.
