Hello, we just got our I-130 approved on May 17th. We haven't heard anything from NVC.
My question is, how long are police records good for? I may have heard 6 months -- does the embassy decide on that (for all countries) or does the issuing country of the police record decide how long it's good for?
I have to get police record from Thailand. From how long police records are good for and where I am at in the application process for CR, if anyone can give me suggestions on if it's a good idea to get the record now, that would be great. Thank you.

Find out now, just exactly what the procedure is and how long it takes. Then get it closer to the interview with enough time to spare for any potential delays. They expire after a year but if you have to overcome an initial denial at interview, you don't want the police report expiring in the meantime. For example, my wife's took 20 days. We ordered it a about six weeks before the earliest date we thought the interview could be but it turns out we had it in hand six weeks before the actual interview.
