After 11 grueling months, we have been touched! I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw that date on there change to May 22, 2007. We have had disappointment after disappointment from both our lawyer and USCIS through out this process.
--Originally filed June '06
--Feb. 07 we found out our lawyer had filed at the wrong place
--Feb. 07 we found out that USCIS had closed our case back in Oct. 06 and never notified us of their action
--March 07 had to refile and start all over

So as you can see, getting something as simple as a touch is certainly a step in the right direction and I was thrilled. However, I think I am a bit apprehensive to get too excited over this...I don't want another disappointment and I am a little paranoid.

So I was wondering if I could hear from others about their touches. Did your first touch mean anything at all? Did you receive your NOA2 shortly after your touch? Did you have numerous touches?

I'm just trying to get a feel on how to read this....although I feel both my fiance and myself has been patient going through this for almost a year now without even a NOA2, we are still VERY impatient at the same time.

Thanks in advance,
Kym

Oh congrats!!! It's SO nice to see you are getting somewhere finally!!!!! For us, we were touched on May 3rd and 4th and then heard nothing. Turned out we were caught up in that issue with not notifying people about their approval. SO in actuality we had been approved on the third and were never notified. Some people wait a few days to a week after touches, but if it goes much longer than a week or two, call them asking about an RFE. That way you get through to someone who can actually tell you something, rather than customer service. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Touched 3x, third touch = RFE.

Hope that's not the case for you!

Good luck!

What a horror story...I commend your patience! A touch at this point is great news. Although there have been people who have been touched then no action for monthes, the majority recieve an RFE or approval within a week or two of the touch. Keep us posted. Hopefully an approval will follow soon.

When you want something done right do it yourself. Forget the lawyers.

Hi, personally I admire your patience good.gif . I can feel what you are feeling right now after almost a year on this process.

My fiancee filed late Feb 07, NOA1 dtd Mar 05, touched on the 12th March, then 23rd May touched/updated. Hopefully its not RFE :-) . We have done it ourselves, though in the middle of the gathering of all documents we have considered the service of a lawyer. My fiancee is not very much of a paperwork type of guy,so I took time reading on line and found out that we can do it ourselves, and it wasnt so hard at all. Seem hard at first, but it wasnt at all later.

Let us hope and pray that we are getting the approval soon.

God bless.

I'd agree with the above statement. In most marriage-based immigration cases, the process is straightforward. We DID call a laywer when we were starting the process, but she knew less than we did! Visajourney.com has helped us more. But for some people where the non-USC is overstayed then a (good) laywer is indispensible. If you are looking for free or reduced cost services, talk to your church. Some churches have a non-profit immigration law firm in their Rolodex.
I hope that your process goes smoothly this time!

I concur...I have an immigration specialist in Korea right now and he is filling my fiance' full of really bad information...he almost had me waste $90 of some certified tax transcripts...when I originally could used regular transcripts with my W2's...it will be harder to get a K1 if you apply and are denied for a tourist Visa...and the list goes on...right now he is only there to fill out the forms...that is it. However, I really feel bad for you and your SO, you have patience which I really admire...Good luck to you and your SO... kicking.gif good.gif kicking.gif
