I was wondering how to you know when the NVC received the packet, is there a website you can check or do you have to wait for the hard copy?

You'll unfortunately need to wait for the snail mail to come to you, otherwise you can call the NVC and see if they've received it. I wouldn't recommend calling them during their peak hours, though; call around dinner time.

You can email, they are pretty good to answer, but i also got thru on the phone fairly fast usually later in the night.

Maybe I was lucky, but when I called first thing in the morning (5:30 mountain time because they open at 7:30 Eastern time) I got through right away. I tried at night but never got through. Also wait for at least a week before you call so they have record of it. You will need to give them your INS case # and names, birthdates of your fiance and you I believe. Good luck and hopefully you find out something soon.
Oh and they did answer my e-mail but it took a little while is all. So either e-mail and then maybe try calling while waiting for the e-mail to come.
