I wrote the exact instructions once and here they are:
First you need to get the "NOA2" - the Notice of Approval of your I-129F application. After getting the NOA2, you can contact the NVC about your case.
NVC Info (to find out when your case arrives/leaves there and to get NVC Case number):
Call (603) 334-0700 - press "1" for English then "5" to speak to a rep on the phone. Be ready with your USCIS case number (it's on the NOA2), beneficiary name and birthdate. K1 visas are NOT entered into the automatic system, so you have to speak personally with a rep. Reps are available 7:30 AM - 12 midnight Eastern time. Call right after they open or right before they close for best results - during the day lines are always busy. They do answer emails but sometimes it takes them 2-3 days to reply! When you get the NVC on the phone, ask them if your case has arrived and if it has, ask for the case number and write it down. Also ask them when it left for the Consulate.
Immediately after getting the NOA2 I kept calling the NVC until they got the case (it took USCIS about 2 weeks after NOA2 to send the NVC my case) and I kept calling daily until they told me when it was mailed to the Consulate.
After the case is mailed to the Consulate, you can track when it arrives.
Tracking your file via DHL from NVC to Embassy:
1. Go to
http://www.dhl-usa.com/home/home.asp2. Click on "Track"
3. Click on "Track by Reference"
4. A "Track it by reference" form will come up. Next to "Reference" type in "CORRESPONDENCE"
5. In the "Shipment pickup date range" put in the date the NVC said they mailed off your package.
6. In the box "Origin Postal Code" type in "03801"
7. Press on the red "Track" button
8. Several pages of results will come up. Look through the "Receiver's Name" for your Embassy. There might be several packages going to your embassy - but you won't know which one is yours. Anyway, most sent on the same day will arrive the same day. Press on the red "Tracking number" of any package going to your Embassy and up will come a page showing where it is now. You can also sign up for notification by email when it is delivered.
After your case arrives at the Consulate, after a few days if you have not received Packet 3, you can start calling up the Consulate or emailing them, saying your case has arrived, give the NVC case number and ask when Packet 3 will be mailed!
