Oh I think somebody is trying to make a point here about some of the other forums. cool.gif

No I don't care who comes in here. Unless they're here to try and impose their cultures values on me, or judge me because I've chosen a UK partner, or some other silliness like that.

Oh, looky, I'm the only one, yet again. blush.gif

I figure this is my place to come & chat about UK things, with my UK peeps. Someone else butts in & inevitably has no idea what we're on about, or won't bother to read a whole post, etc, etc. But they still offer opinions.

Oh well. To each his own. I never visit other regional forums, why would I? I figured they're on about ME/NA bickering or Canadian maple syrup or mail order brides, or other stuff I have no interest in. yes.gif

My neighbour just put one in his back garden! It's not a kids pool but it's not full sized either. We could charge admission and make a killing! wink.gif Any preference on flavour? hehe Screw Springer we'll start the WJWC (not to be confused with WWJD) Women's Jello Wrestling Championships!

Sounds like a plan! In regards to flavour, I've always been partial to cherry. Of course, if we use that we would run the risk of me stopping in mid-match to start eating it. Especially if we throw some bananas in beforehand.

I'm a lurker here.
I tend to just follow the food and TV shows related threads though. tongue.gif

We brits are so damn interesting that everybody wants to come on the uk forum and be our friends. FACT!!

Seriously though, I never visit other regional forums. OT and the rest of VJ is for everybody but the regional forums are for specific issues relating to that region. What insight could i possibly offer to somebody from thailand going for a K1 interview in bangkok? Or the differences in culture between Pakistan and Wyoming? I'm sure i could make a few comments but they would be far from constructive.

We didn't used to have Regional Forums on VJ. I sort of liked it.

Off-Topic discussions would sometimes turn to 'cultural differences'. If there was debate, it was usually spirited and friendly. Generally things were quite amicable - we made friends from around the world and it was a lot easier to pick up interesting tidbits about other cultures without feeling like an 'interloper'.

I'm one of the people who uses the "View New Posts" thing. I hate going into each forum and looking for new posts. Ergo, I ended up in that little "incident" as well, although I didn't get a chance to post.

Those people freak me out. What is their issue with other people being in "their" forum? Of course, considering who the loudest whiner was, it isn't really surprising. Dude has some serious issues, and has for some time.

I won't worry about any of "them" coming over and reading this, since this is the UK forum and it's all password protected, has invisible fonts, and all that......right?

I took a sneaky peek last night in the Sub-Forum That Thinks It's a Club, and my reaction was ohmy.gif . What I found amazing is that they all closed ranks so quickly, and took the line that whatever they're going through is so unlike what anyone else is going through that other VJers could NEVER understand. Sounds like me when I was a teenager! tongue.gif

I tried to put aside some of the really quite borderline-misogynistic statements and think: would this happen in the UK sub-forum? Well, I like to think that we don't take ourselves seriously enough here that that would ever happen. All of us, and I mean ALL of VJ, are going down a tough road and its a bit silly and embarrassing that a few fruitcakes in that sub-forum are throwing up roadblocks to some genuine discourse and attempts at cross-cultural understanding.

Actually, that was just so sickly-sweet I think I may throw up myself now. dead.gif

On the other hand regional forums do a good job of keeping the flame fest posts on the "ME/NA" forum nicely compartmentalised.

Most message boards solve that problem by getting rid of the flamers.
