So I'm planning on requesting an interview from Frankfurt tomorrow (got packet 3 last Friday) and need to see if I understand the process.
First, there's the checklist--this is the OF-169, right? After Claudia (my wife, the beneficiary) checks everything, fills out the form and signs it, we fax it to Frankfurt, along with the bio-data page of her passport.
Second there's the DS-230 pt. 1. This needs to be filled out by Claudia, signed and mailed to Frankfurt.
And everything else--police records, I-864, photos etc. etc. needs to be taken with to the interview.
So have I gotten this all correct, or am I missing something? Should I request a particular date or range of dates for an interview, or does anyone even care? And how long are people having to wait for an interview in Frankfurt after faxing out the OF-169? Adriana, how did you get an interview so fast??
Anyway, I'm so relieved that the process is moving forward, as I'm sure many other Frankfurt DCFers are!
Walter
P.S. And what's the DS-230 pt. 2??? When is that a factor, or is that something else entirely? Is this related to the fact that my DS-230 says Page 1 of 4 but only has two pages?? Weird.

Walter, what you have now is packet 3....after you mail what they asked you and fax the checklist you will receive packet 4 in the mail. Look at Mary G member, I think that between packages it was a week difference????? Usually the interview is a month difference from packet 4.
DS-230 part 2 (the last 2 pages) is coming in packet 4. You have to complete it home but sign it at the interview in front of the Officer.
I was a little insistent and I send them an email requesting (begging lol) that my interview to be before June 4th because I will have a problem with my passport (6 months validity) plus I was ready with all my docs and medical since January. They listened my request and blessed me with a May interview yuuuuuuuuppie.

Ya, we've been collecting them for awhile. The most difficult was the supporting I-864, but my mom sent that a couple weeks ago.

No, but I figured we'd do it on the day of the interview--isn't this possible?
MaydayDas
May 20 2007, 03:08 PM
yes you can, if you don't have the medical done they schedule you an appointment, on my invitation it shows that but i took care of it long time ago.....the thing with the interview in the same day is that they have to wait for the results in order to issue the visa.

Thanks for the heads-up...I figure we're going to have a
long day when we drive up to the interview. Probably take off at 5 am, get back home in the afternoon sometime. Oh joy.

Usually the appointment interviews are at 7.30 am.....so you have to be there like 7 am

So can we do the medical exam
after the interview, or does it have to be before?

If you do not have the medical done you will get an appointment for that too: it could be before the interview or after the interview.
Why you do not go ahead and do the medical so you can be relaxed in the day of the interview and you will know for sure that the visa will be issued to you?
You do not need an appointment to go to their doctor in frankfurt.....it took me like 3 hours for the medical....if it is busy it is a lot of waiting.

I'd love to get it out of the way, but it'd mean a full day's driving and waiting, and we really can't afford that. Not to mention my in-laws having to take the kids for a day (which they'd do, no problem) and the stress of making yet another 5 hour day car trip.
I'd much rather deal with the German Autobahns to Frankfurt just once.

lol german autobahn are the best
your wife has the shots record? she will need to have all the shots prior the medical
Walter G.
May 20 2007, 04:10 PM
Yup, she's all shot up. Germans are good with records like that. I have no idea what immunizations I have, when I got them, what I need.

I don't know if that's an American thing or a Walter thing.

(It drives my wife nuts, in any case.)

OK, so from what I understand from reading this that when you get your interview date notification, they also provide an appointment for the medical, either before or after the interview?
MaydayDas
May 21 2007, 11:02 AM
Wacken, the best is if you go for the medical before the interview day. For the Frankfurt doctor you do not need an appointment and you can make a visit there in the morning, if you lucky you finish in 2-3 hours. If I were you I will not wait until the day of the interview for the medical.
On the invitation letter i have the interview appointment with date and time and also I see it is the medical appointment with date and time (because they already have my medical they put 0 ).
I read other people story and it can happen first to go to the interview and than you are sent to the medical.....or you can have the medical first and after that the interview. It will be a stressful day to do both of them , you do not know how busy it will be at the doctor office or at the embassy. Plus if you get lost between doctor and embassy ........
MaydayDas
May 21 2007, 11:06 AM
and I forgot to tell you that doing the medical in the same day you will add a few more days delay to get the visa

OK, I think it would be best for my husband to go the day before the interview for the medical and stay the night in Frankfurt and go to the interview next morning. Heh, complicated when you live like 4 hours away from Frankfurt.

Wacken,
Maybe another location is closer for you: Berlin, dortmund, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Leipzig or Munchen. The Consulate accepts the medical from their doctors in these locations.

Hi Wacken,
My husband went to Dr. Pollman. It was pretty straightforward and quick, and then they sent the results directly to the embassy. I think it cost about 150 Euro, which is more than Frankfurt (I think), but worth it if it saves you a night's hotel in Frankfurt. It also was great because he got the appointment really quickly and got it over with.
Best wishes,
Mary
