How long does it take from case completed at the NVC and having an interview at the Abroad Consulate?

Also, does any one know how much are the bills that will have to be paid on the interview day, other than the medical exam and inmunizations?

thank you guys

it really depends on the embassy, whether they have a heavy case load or not. some consulates are better staffed and more efficient so they process the interviews quicker than others, there isn't an accurate answer that anyone can give you. to best get an estimate is to look for people like you who have gone through mexico for a cr-1 visas already and look at their timelines or just send them a message for advice/information. in my case, i'm waiting for an interview and looking at couples that have gone through bogota for a cr-1 visa, the time between case completion and interview is about 2 months.

That depends on the Embassy, could take a couple of weeks, could take a couple of months. There is no set pattern.

I am led to believe that the Visa bills are paid but you will have to pay the bill for your passport to be sent back to you.

In Mexico it takes about 13 months to get a CR1 interview. Also, passports are not sent back - visas are provided the same day if the applicant is approved.

Check the CDJ website for fee information:

http://usembassy.state.gov/CiudadJuarez/wwwhivfm.html

The total fee for an immigrant visa is U.S. $380, or the local currency equivalent. Each applicant must be prepared to pay this fee on the appointment date.

it is horrible, so I have not much hope, my Case at NVC is still not complete. I was considering that after the case was completed it would take like a month or two based on other cases I have read about it here. Kitkat are that long, because people has waivers?, I have heard it takes that long to people who had problems with immigration...

Good luck to all!.. Please let us know your experiences at CDJ !!!!

The wait for interview dates for CR1s is apparently due to the backlog and generally longer processing time for CR1s - they result in green cards so once you have it, you're done. People who have to submit waivers go through a whole separate process after the denial at the interview.

If you file the I-129F after the I-130, the interview wait is more like 4-6 months but it results in a K3 non-immigrant visa which means you have to apply for work authorization and adjustment of status once in the US.

gabay71, they apparently send out the interview packet about a month prior, but you can get just about everything right off the CDJ website under "Immigrant Visa packet"

Hi,

I saw some couples posted the dates of which their case sent to the embassy and received by the embassy. Where can you find these information? Will NVC information telephone line provide this kinds of information as it happens?

Or you have to contact the embassy? If contacting the embassy is the way, when from the time of which the case is reported completed at NVC can we contact the embassy for such information? And which contacting method is beter? Email or Phone? Our embassy is Ho Chi Minh, VN.

Thanks for your help in advance.
