I decided to start this topic so february filers can track progress of other february filers with the NVC status. I was approved on May 9, but i'm sure it hasn't been sent yet. I hear your supposed to wait 2 weeks before U call. Anyone else hear anything??? kicking.gif
Mononoke28
My case got there in exactly 1 week. You can call the automated system as many times as you want to see if your petition reached NVC. Just have your receipt # handy and plug it in.
CoMelly
It was almost two weeks from my NOA2 before I got a case number out of the NVC system.

Hi,

We were approved on 1st May and it's not there yet!! I did read someone elses post who said they had been told it was taking appx 3 weeks at the moment. I'll start to panic on Monday then!

I am using a lawyer so i'm not sure if he is going to get the receipt from NVC or if I am going to get the receipt from NVC. So you guys are at NVC right now but none has been approved yet??? unsure.gif
Mononoke28
Everybody who makes it to the NVC has had their petitions approved. I still have haven't received the paper approval though, just the e-mail from USCIS.
jediknight
depending on how quick your lawyer is, it may take from 2-3 months for the case to be completed after the nvc receives it and another 1-2 months to have the interview.

I got my NVC case number exactly 10 days after my I130 was approved. Since I had a lawyer, he was automatically assigned as the agent. I called the NVC on two days ago and they said that they were going send the IV and AOS bill to me this week. I had a minor problem since I changed the agent to myself from the lawyer. I was more comfortable with getting the documents myself than my lawyer who doesn't know anything. They said that they will resend the documents to me. I talked to my lawyer and he said that it will still take another month for me to receive anything from NVC. It is amazing how these good for nothing lawyers are able to charge hundreds of dollars for mediocre service. As is often said, "the best things in life are free". This site is an example of that. It it 50 times more informative and helpful than my lawyer yet it is free.

A new topic and some familiar names, along with some new ones! star_smile.gif

I guess I need to read up on the NVC process, as well as the medical and interview phases.... reading.gif

All this before I get the "Official" NOA2 notice from CSC laughing.gif

I did get a touch on May 10 and a second one on May 11, since the folks at CSC said that we were approved as of May 10, my guess is that the touch on May 11 was to scan it out for transit to the NVC...but I honestly don't know tongue_ss.gif

I didn't use a lawyer, but I did use a service to insure that all the paperwork was filled out correctly. For me it bought me peace of mind, mostly because I knew they had filled out 1000's of these before mine (there is no substitute for experience IMO) yes.gif

  • case # from uscis
  • petitioner's name
  • petitioner's date of birth
  • benificiary's name
  • benificiary's date of birth

Your right there is no substitute for experience. Welcome to the NVC thread. As far as I know NVC just does a background check to make sure your not toooo bad. It's a fairly quick process. But if we all keep posting progress it gives us an idea how long it will take so we can have an idea of when it will be sent to embassy of our choice. Our choice being where we chose our fiancee from. I just used the lawyer for the initial I-129F, I am not using him for the rest of the process. I'm waiting for the NVC receipt number and i'll be BURNING UP the automated system. innocent.gif whistling.gif good.gif

Oh my gosh!!! I love, love, love, love, love Bluenile.com. I can stare at every ring on that website all day! I'm also thinking of getting a ring from there because the ring I got in Colombia is supposed to be "temporary". Let me know what your experience is with them so I can get my husband to get me one. biggrin.gif

I didn't buy a huge ring. I just bought a 18kt white gold ring with a .55 Blue Nile Signature Series round diamond. I went for quality over size.

Just an FYI for everyone. Approved K-1 petitions coming from USCIS never get entered into the NVC's automated system (they're never physically there long enough). In order to find out if it has been received @ NVC, other than the e-mail method posted earlier, you have to get a live person on the phone. Not sure what #'s you have to press in the automated menu, but get to talk to an operator and they will be able to best inform you. I would still wait about 2 weeks after NOA2 date to call though. smile.gif

So, at this stage there are no real fees or papers to complete correct? We just call after about two weeks to track the status of them sending it to the embassy correct?
Minya's wife
Correct, for K-1's nothing to do now, but wait. Once NVC receives petition, they process it and it is sent via DHL to the beneficiary's consulate. Upon receipt of the approved petition from NVC, the consulate will send notification to beneficiary. This is the Packet 3, checklist, stating all the documents to be gathered in preparation for the visa interview.

While waiting, I will spend the time filling out the I-134, gathering the employment letter, financials and put together all the paperwork to send to my fiance for his interview. At least it'll keep me busy during this time. smile.gif

Up at 5am yesterday to take Carolyn down the M6 to Manchester airport - she is going back to Milwaukee for a week to check on her dad who is very ill - then I drove to Yorkshire to help my daughter with some stuff and worked on my house there which is up for sale. Then to Harrogate, North Yorkshire to help my friend fix his computer - arrived home at our rented house in Lancashire at 1am and I tried so hard not to ring NVC but I was drawn to the phone and sat that bleary eyed just to get the 'never heard of it' answer. 17 days.

It's a real pity they dont have a website like the USCIS where you receive an email notification of each stage...

While I was doing the 50 mile drive at 1am down narrow, wet, country roads, there was an item on BBC radio that said 12 million illegals in the US are to get a green cards so that they can be 'brought out of the shadows'

Presumably they won't need medicals and police histories and a year's worth of forms and huge fees.

Isn't all this a little unfair for we who line up at the turnstiles to get into this ballgame while the others are climbing over the walls and getting in for free ?

Well if you can't beat em join em - I will feel less guilty at 'gaming' the system now I know the rules - or lack of them...

Hi Alan

I read the BBC artical on this, these people by the looks of it have to apply for a new visa called a Z visa. They have to pay money and get sent back to there own country to await the visa. Please read the artical to put your mind at rest lol, it's interesting reading.

Janice
saywhat
Hi Janice - having to wait in your own country for the visa isn't being very nice ! We know !
Yes I have been doing some reading today and it seems the 'head of the family' would have to go back - all the little nippers will presumably be US citizens anyway having been born there......
Every time I give my kid an amnesty on the car loans he owes me - he is back for another one a year later - that's how amnesties work I reckon.... Same with amnesties for unfaithful spouses they say...

The poem has it right..

'So we will just pay you cash to go away-

and that's what's called paying the Danegeld
but we've proved it again and again
that once you have paid him the Danegeld
you will NEVER get rid of the Dane'

and it means an end to cheap motel rooms (MINIMUM WAGE NOW) which, if I was selfish, I would think of as a bad thing

All the illegal Irish bar workers in Boston (all the bar workers in Boston that is !) will welcome it , as many haven't been home for 7 years (I have spoken to em)

Now how much is a flight to mexico - somewhere near the border ..hum..oh ok then it will have to be Canada- lost in the woods officer and all that

alan

I know we are supposed to get a receipt from NVC with # we can call. If it is not there very long basically by the time we get receipt it's already on the way to the embassy??? I do not mind if that is the case. The less time there the better. I'm going to Peru for my fiancees interview so I will gather everything and just bring it to her in person good.gif

Yes I did k1 and I didn't even notice NVC stage it was so fast...

After NOA2 I was giving the Embassy a hard time and didn't even bother with NVC

I told the London embassy I had done my medical and my police certificate and I was not working and could be there in a couple of hours if they had an interview cancellation - they emailed back and I was in there really quickly...that was the good old days in London a couple of years ago and they have changed it all now and made it so nobody gets a reasonable experience

Sounds exciting - you sound excited - it IS exciting ! yippee enjoy it all !

Some people in the Colombian thread kept calling the NVC every other day to find out when their cases where sent to the embassy. The NVC rep will let you know what day they sent it but not the DHL track # for you to check, it takes about 3 days or so to reach the embassy though.

It has been just over a month since they got my Package... Still no news.. When I call they just say the wait time is normal... I thought I was very lucky with the Vermont Service center (2 weeks)... The NVC slamed on the brakes though and brought me back to reality.. :-) O-well everything cant be perfect...

A timeline we all envy! Nice.

With NOA2 notices never being sent, we may be on the way to NVC. We had two touches late last week, so I'll give them a few days to let me know something. I'll wait and see...

I had a 2 week wait from cali to NVC, but since they never notified me of the NOA2 my first call was the day NVC recieved it! They got it on Thursday and I'm hoping to be outta there this coming week!
msu17
Oh, thought I would add the NVC # in case anyone was interested. It's 1-603-334-0700. I think you just need to press 5 to speak with an operator, but I'm not 100% sure I remember correctly. Generally recommended to call later in the evening or early in the morning. They are open 7:30 AM EST to midnight. I called at 2 PM and didnt get through, though their automated voice guy told me to call back after 6, and since I always listen to automated voice guys ( whistling.gif ) I called around 7 or 7:30 and got through after a 5 min. wait. The guy I talked with seemed kind of in a hurry and didnt volunteer my case #, so make sure to ask for it! I almost forgot since I was so excited it was there!

Doug and Mariko
Called them again today... They have had it for 34 days with no change of status... It is still in Administrative Processing, which they say is a normal thing, and to check back at the end of the week... So now 30% of the time we get is gone (4 months)... If they take much longer I dont think we will have enough time to do everything that Tokyo embassy will require..
Dan + Gemvita
NVC has apparently received our petition last Friday. Hopefully it will be going to Jakarta soon.
