My wife in Manila has a Visa interview now scheduled for June 6th. Her app't letter states:

Form I-864 Affidavit of Support for visa applicants in the IR, F and certain E visa categories. The sponsor is required to submit with their Form I-864 a certified copy of the most recent U.S Federal Income Tax Return (Form 1040) and wage statements ( Form W-2s).

I have a co-sponsor and my co-sponsor and I both called the IRS today and they informed us a certified copy of tax returns takes 2 months to get. They are sending us transcripts hopefully by fax (said it will attempt to fax 3 times and if unsuccessful it will be mailed which will take 2 weeks). It gets worse! I cannot get my "most recent" return transcript because even though I filed it on March 24th and they cashed my check they aren't "finished" with it yet. So they are sending my 2005 transcript. At least my co-spoinsor is gettiung her transcript of the 2006 return.

It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE at this point to get certified copies. Am I screwed???????? I have copies of all my returns, no problem. I also have copies of all my co-sponsor's returns. Will they accept that? My attorney said to take the transcripts they send and have them notarized.

Has anyone else had this issue? PLease someone tell me the copies are all they need. This is ridiculous! How can I provide something they ask for yesterday to have in 3 weeks if the IRS cannot get it to me for 2 months????????? Yes, I am extremely nervous, worried, annoyed, frustrated and nearly fed up!!!!!!!! I hope someone here can say something to ease my mind over this. I'm flying out June 2nd to be there for her interview and I want to have all I need as far as documentation. I THOUGHT I did!!!!!!! helpsmilie.gif

HEY!!

That is really gud newz cuz am too going to have to summit my IRS papers and am glad they will take copies of the Tax Return in Manila. Tell me one thing, when your wife took the tax copies, did she need last years or all 3 past years? Thank!

She went there just to ask that one question. She didn't actually take any documents with her yesterday. Our interview isn't until June 6th, that is when we're taking EVERYTHING!

For the NVC application you should submit past 3 years returns with each I-864. For the interview we are taking this years (2006) and the 3 previous years which were what the NVC approved us with. Better to be safe than sorry. Have MORE than enough. I don't think it's possible to over prepare. Over stress and worry sure, but not over prepare.

For I-864. I think if your applying for CR1/IR1, photocopies of Income Tax Return will be ok. That's what i did. And for those who applied for K1 & K3. They need to be Notarized. That's what my friend did. Coz i think the reason were for CR1/IR1, you will submit it on NVC and for K1 & K3, you will send it to beneficiary for the interview. And yes they need 3 previous years.
