I plan to apply for my naturalization (90 days before the 3rd anniversay of my permanent residency) which will be next month. However, up until now I haven't received my actual 10 yr green card yet( I got approved and stamped a temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residency in Feb 2007). I called the USCIS 800 to inquire about my 10 yr card today and found out that our local INS office made a mistake , instead of submitting my application for green card for issuance, the officer sent the papers to the warehouse( National record center), thus , no green card up to now, this is accdg to the INS officer I spoke to. He suggested to me to make an info pass so our local INS can send another request.
My question is, if ever i do not get the actual green card by the time I file my N400 in the 2nd week of June, will the temporay passport (I-551 ) stamp work as evidence of my legal permanent residency status( as I believe one of the requirements is a copy of the green card, I only have a copy of my expired conditional green card, original card was surrendered to the office when I got my passport stamped).
Appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

You need to call them back and ask them if a photocopy of your stamped passport is enough because the directions on the N-400 clearly say you need to submit your petition with a copy of your resident card, front and back.
