Not sure where to post my question......my husband doesn't speak English.
Will he have any problems at the POE (JFK)? I've been reading all the posts on different POE experiences and seems like all fiances/spouses speak English.......If I have to, I'd go to Russia to come back with him. Any advices would be appreciated......

He should be fine. I would be more worried about what happens after he gets here. It has taken me years to have even basic command of Russian. They ask basically the same questions. Maybe those are some good ones to practice

Speaking English is not required. The Guys in customs have done this before. Your husband will not be the first one (:

When my inlaws (from russia) came for a visit, they didn't have any problems at all, and they do not speak a WORD of English (and they had to change planes in Zurich and Chicago too).

No problem. Like AK said, international airports are used to dealing with non-english speakers.

Well, that could happen - but it wouldn't be because he doesn't speak English. Also, it would probably take them all of 5 minutes to come up with an agent who is fluent in Russian. (:

Keep in mind, English is not the "official" language of the U.S., or Homeland Security. Government agencies are REQUIRED to provide translators for those that do not speak English fluently or who feel they would be better off (like after being arrested or in an auto accident, something legal, etc.) speaking their native language.

As stated, he'll be fine coming through JFK.

Remember too, even though he doesn't speak English, he's seen JFK, NY, McDonald's, Tide, Crest, Coca-Cola, Rambo (parts one and two.... maybe even three) etc., etc., etc., and the list goes on! Point is, he'll be able to recognize where his gate is and where to get a cheeseburger, how to pass through customs, and ultimately, how to get to you!

Rest assured, he'll be coming through with the hundreds of other Russians that transit through JFK daily, so he'll be just fine. My wife said the guys there (at the customs and immigration checkpoint) gave her very good directions "eeen parooosky."

his interview is in June, so hopefully all will go well and he'll be here in July

Hi, I am seeking yet another advice….we have wedding pics, wedding video, plain tickets from 3 of my trips to Russia, phone records, marriage certificate as proof of our relationship.
My question is should we include my family’s members’ visas they used to attend our wedding or would it be an overkill. Please let me know your thoughts……….

How long have you been married? The immigration doesn't really care about pics and video they much prefer the proof of "joint marital property" or any joint financial stuff, like insurance, bank accounts etc.

That isn't true. For instance, the instructions regarding the AOS interview say that if you need a translator for the interview, it is the applicants responsibility to provide the translator and bear the cost.

visa copies we are considering providing would be to demonstrate that our marriage is valid during my husband's interview at the consulate
