After you get your first receipt notice (NOA1), you get to wait for around 3 months until you get your first approval (NOA2) or RFE (Request for more evidence). Even with an RFE, you will submit the required missing evidence and then get your NOA2 from CSC. After you get your NOA2, which should be soon for you, the case is sent to the NVC (National Visa Center) for additional screening. After this process the application is then forwarded off to the embassy in the beneficiaries country. The time from NOA2 to the consulate receiving the package, is usually 3-4 weeks. One they receive it, you can make an appointment for your interview. In this time, the beneficiary will need to get a medical exam and procure all the paperwork the embassy requires, a list of which which I am sure can be found on their website. This final process take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, and it looks like the Bahamas is very fast. In all likelihood, your fiance will be here for Christmas, probably long before Thanksgiving. Good luck and I would suggest filling in your timeline, it helps all of us here to be able to follow it.

How long on average does NVC take?
The NVC is taking a while for some right now, but in general it takes about a week to get from the service center, after the NOA2, to the NVC. They process it for a couple of days typically, and then they send it to the appropriate embassy which can take from a few days to a few weeks. It's best to look at the NVC time as from the day you get the NOA2 until the embassy actually receives the package so you can set an interview appointment. This total time is usually 3-4 weeks or so. The final stage, the interview, depends on how quick you can get the paperwork (police cert, translated docs, financials, 156 forms, and medical exam) done, and how fast your embassy is. You can check here:
http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/wait/tempvisitors_wait.php You can usually get everything together, except the medical, while you are waiting for your paperwork to get to the embassy, thereby cutting down the total time to visa.

Hi scott2007.. first of all I want to congratulate you for getting approved.. second is i have a question.. your two touches where they touched because you called or you just simply checked your online and noticed the changed on the date? Are timelines are pretty closed to each other and I'm just 6 days after you got your NOA1.. I've been touched three times and I'm not sure its because I called.. I am really so anxious to get the NOA2 noticed in the my email or at the USCIS site.. again congrats to you and I wish us all march filers that are still waiting for NOA2s..
I never called in to inquire about the case. They were closed when I tried on the 25th. On the 26th, I had an email that morning that was sent at 12:30 AM.

Well I just talked to a very nice lady at the NVC and she said that our K1 package was sent to the Lagos Consulate on June 27th. I am very excited!!! The USCIS website still shows my case pending and I have not received an email or a paper copy NOA2. Does anyone know if my fiance will need this for his interview or is it only needed for the AOS after he gets to the US and we get married????

I was awoken at 5:00am by my other half. She'd just got home from being away all day, and found she had a letter from the NVC in her mail box.
The letter stated that they had received our approved petition for an I-129F, and would be forwarding it on to the US Embassy in London within a week.
So, there we go!
Finally approved, we just don't know when. We've had no email update or hard copy of the NOA2.
We just hope we get the NOA2 in the mail too, as the London Embassy does list it as a required document for the interview.
The OH is going to call CSC and see if they can get the date we were approved from them, and I will update my timeline with that information. My VJ timeline originally told me I could be approved as early as 27th June, but it was obviously before then if the NVC received the approved case on the 25th June.
Well, I'm all happy now, and planning what needs to be done for the medical and interview now, in anticipation of the Packet 3 and 4 from the Embassy.
Oddly enough, both the quick online case check (by receipt number) and the full online check (by logging in) both show the case is received and still pending, and the detailed one still shows nothing from the touch on 06/05/2007.

I called CSC today and I found out that I have been approved since June 13th!!!!! and my file was sent to NVC on 6/27/07. I have the same problem as you guys.... on the website it is not updated, nor have I received a letter or email. I asked why and they guy that answered me said that they are having computer problems and the letters are not going out. He said he reset it so that a letter is sent to me telling me it is approved.
Sooooo.... if you were in the same boat at me, I suggest you call and go through the prompts as though you had received and RFE and ask what the status is. When I called I said I hadn't heard anything as was worried if they had sent me an RFE and I just didn't receive it and luckily it worked.
Good luck to you all and I hope you all are approved and don't even know it, just like me.

NOA2 at hand! -dated June 26 Thank goodness.
Exactly 90 days from mailing the I-129F. I was becoming depressed seeing others with very similar timelines get approved. But at the same time happy for them. I was getting concerned for my own petition.
I got two touches, June 19 and 20. Up until now the USCIS website says pending, no change since the last touch. I called twice in the month of June and didn't get anything substantial from them.
The USCIS journey ended and the journey to Bogota embassy begins. Hang in there for those who have not received their NOA2s. I actually stopped checking this forum and the USCIS last week since I just did not want to be reminded of my petition. Have patience my friends the gratification of the approval is worth the wait.
Thanks to all. This community helped me get through this arduous wait.
