Ok I just found this great site and this great post. Count me in as well. I filled I-130 in late March and I filled for I-129 in mid April. Just doing the waiting game and kind of frustrated.
Hey what does "Touched" mean?
Our story:
Me met in November of 06, got married on Jan 3rd 07. Filed for everything on March 23rd. Now we are without eachother and just waiting. I am a US Citizen and she is a Indian Citizen.

touched means that your something has been done to your case, and they remeber to update the date on the website
in your portfolio. Set up an account on the USCIS site with your reciept number. Also Captain Ewok explains the whole touch thing in one of his posts.
Hope that helps....

Ok great, thanks for the info. on touched. I logged into my profile on USCIS and it showed the following:
Last Updated
(mm/dd/yyyy) Form # Form Title
05/29/2007 I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN
05/30/2007 I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)
I guess those dates are considered my file being "touched".

Elmira,
I admit.....I have no self-control. I call NVC everyday....sometimes twice. (

) I promise to post as soon as they say my case is there and I'm sure you'll be there at the same time since we were approved at about the same.

We tried to call one time to NVC, and lady told us "Sorry we didn't recieve your case yet, and please be aware we recieve approved cases from USCIS after 90 days of approval date". I said OK, but so wanted to tell her that she is wrong

My Fiance is away from Florida now, so he will be back on 3 July, and if he doesn't find NOA-2 and NVC letter in his snail mail box we will start worry... but now we are not going to call them till 3 July

I will let you know if we have any news

Hi guys.. I just finished talking to a representative at USCIS and she was very very nice and helpful. I wish all representatives were like her. Anyways, she said that they are kinda behind but not too much and they are doing their best especially us march filers with april NOA1s. She said that if everything that they need has been supplied and wouldn't need RFEs then we should get our applications adjudicated or approved hopefully by the end of the month or early July. I really do hope that we get our NOA2s soon. It's the suspense that kills us..not knowing when. Good luck to as all.

Yeah that sounds great. What's next after we receive our NOA2's? Can anyone describe what happens after that and what the estimated time line would be? Thanks

Your case will be sent to NVC and then forwarded to Consulate (Embassy..I get the 2 confused..lol) Then the Consulate (Embassy ?) sends your packets and then interview. Some people get caught in AR at the NVC level and some are caught before or after the interview. Some don't get get caught in it at all. This is just a quick run down of the process. There's really no way of getting an idea about timeframes. You might get abetter idea form others that have gone through the same country. You should check those threads.

All I said was that I saw on the website that the 'date updated' date had changed and I wanted to make sure it was not an RFE, that's it. She was nice and didn't act like I shouldn't have been calling to ask that or anything...

Well I called and tried 1-2-4 but it just ask for you to call back. I had no option for the "0" after hitting 4. What am I doing wrong?
qbertz7
Jun 25 2007, 06:20 PM
I don't remember ever having to hit '0' in the sequence, I remember the 4, and then I think there were options for 1 or 2, and 2 was to speak to a customer service rep.

I've been pretty patient so far but I'm getting extremely frustrated..........our NOA1 was on March 8, and we got a notice that our petition was transferred to CSC on March 26, and no touches since April 26. It seems like people that filed after us are getting approved.........what should I do?? Would it do any good to call? And WHY is the I-129F for spouses not even listed on the CSC processing times anymore?

I don't get why they can't be more consistent. I was approved same day as you Scott, yet no email from them, still says case pending on the webiste too. Oh well, as long as that lady I talked at CSC was right and I was approved I don't care I guess.

Hi scott2007.. first of all I want to congratulate you for getting approved.. second is i have a question.. your two touches where they touched because you called or you just simply checked your online and noticed the changed on the date? Are timelines are pretty closed to each other and I'm just 6 days after you got your NOA1.. I've been touched three times and I'm not sure its because I called.. I am really so anxious to get the NOA2 noticed in the my email or at the USCIS site.. again congrats to you and I wish us all march filers that are still waiting for NOA2s..

Calling should not generate a touch. You get touched anytime your file is scanned. Whomever is answering the phone will not have your file in front of them to scan. Your touches should mean that someone has scanned your file for some reason. Three touches in row must mean something. I would assume (but of course can not say for sure) that your case is being adjudicated. I would think that you will know something soon and will receive an approval or an RFE. Good luck! maybe you'll get an email tonight!

thanks vismaster..I do hope it's not an RFE..by the way don't they usually inform you ahead of time if it's an RFE? I mean why wait for almost 3 months before they let you know that they needed more info? I pray that it's an approval.. huhuh.. thanks guys for all the support

they're not looking at your application the entire three months. You may get an RFE after three months because that's the first time an adjudicator actually looks at the details of your application.

I'm not saying you in particular are getting an RFE, but you asked why they would wait 3 months to send an RFE, and the answer is because they don't look at the petitions when they first get them. So when an adjudicator finally starts to look through someone's petition, three or so months later, that's when someone might get an RFE. Basically, everyone who gets an RFE gets them after waiting the average amount of time for processing (three months).
