I have drank enough to get drunk, enough to throw up on rare occasion, but I have never been hungover. In fact, after I drink, I wake up the next morning feeling great. Anyone else not get hungover?
MaydayDas
Never, but I guess I don't drink enough laughing.gif cause I do not feel I am drunk laughing.gif
Karin und Otto
Not sure I've ever had a hang over...but don't drink that much, that often anyway.. biggrin.gif
Matt85

That's because you are under 30. Hit thirty and it'll start, believe me.

Me? I rarely drink anyway, but if I do it's guaranteed that I'll feel sh!t....but I'm over thirty. When I was your age (sound like a parent now don't I?) I'd never had a hangover either. Give it time....mwahahahahahahaha.
bora bora
Even if I drink a bit and stop - I still always feel the effect the next day.
elmcitymaven
Had the hangover from hell yesterday -- as Mags said, once you hit 30 your hangover-free days are over! I was especially miffed the other week when I felt a tad ropey after only one glass of wine and one beer -- with dinner, even. mad.gif

But after the amount I consumed on Friday, well, I wasn't surprised I felt like death!!! wacko.gif
SoL.
Oh Mags, I didn't know after 30 it was worse and believe me, now it makes sense to me! At my work's Xmas party I had just a few glasses of wine and the next day I was sooooo sick! laughing.gif

Now I'll be more careful heh wink.gif
JODO
If I have a little too much to drink, nornally drinking a great deal of water before bed heads it off.
sereia
only sometimes.... maybe if i forget to drink some water before bed. not sure why. but its pretty rare. usually i just feel tired because me drinking a lot = me staying up really late. wink.gif
DeadPoolX
Since I rarely drink alcohol (and when I do, it's very limited), I've never had a hangover. I do get severe migraine headaches though, so sometimes I have all the after-drinking "fun" without any of the actual drinking. tongue.gif
Alex+R
I do not need to get drunk to get a hangover. I can't remember the last time I had more than one glass of wine or more than one beer and didn't feel the effects the next day. I did learn in college (well, not in a class) that two glasses of water (16 oz) and thick toast would do the trick to at least quell the puking... man I'm a terrible drinker.
sereia
i'm a puker. its always been hard to know my limit. my best friend can drink vodka like water and never ever throw up. boooooooo!
PEGGY
I never get sick or hungover.

Just lucky I guess biggrin.gif
homesick_american
When I was in college and drank at parties I got horrible hangovers; I felt like someone was running over my head with a Jeep. It's one of the reasons I don't drink at all now.
babybunny
I used to get drunk all the time when I was living in the UK. now I dont drink at all.

btw, I caught a drunk driver last night. so this thread is a little troubling.
cartaverde
I hate hangovers. So I never drink that much that I would get one.
So max 2 drinks per night for me.
Magenta
Don't read the next bit unless you have a strong stomach...

About ten years ago I got plastered, really REALLY drunk. I had some chips (fries) on my way home, as you do when you've had a few. Anyhoo, rolled in the front door, managed to have a shower (hate waking up smelling of ciggy smoke) and pootled off to bed.

Next morning woke up feeling like death on toast. Staggered to the bathroom and was promptly sick, so sick in fact I managed to puke up the previous nights chips (fries) through my NOSTRILS (mashed up a bit of course). ohmy.gif dead.gif

I can safely say I never EVER drank that much again. In fact, I rarely ever drink now.
babybunny
since my hangover days I cant drink tequilla! I loved that stuff - no lime no salt..
I cant drink apple core either.

I've never actually gotten drunk (don't drink that much at a time), so never had a hangover.

Thank you blush.gif It's a product of my family and religious upbringing. Wine and beer were frequently at our dinner table, so there wasn't the mysterious forbidden fruit aspect. And my church teaches that alcoholic beverages are to be received as a gift from God, and are neither to be abused, nor despised, whether or not one chooses to partake of them.

My hangovers last the whole day so I try not to drink enough to get to that point anymore!

I've never been drunk either so never had a hangover...but I also never drink any alcohol. I've only had a few sips in my life, like champagne at a wedding toast. I hated the taste.

Basically, this poll is invalid due to having no answer options for teetotalers.

FOr S&L--I have a hard time considering BEER as a "gift from God", as I worked one time as a bartender at Calgary Stampede (total event time about 10 days). As I had to deal with a lot of invalid complaints such as:
  • too much foam
  • not enough beer (I guess these expected me to overspill the glass? I kept it generally "within guidelines")
  • trying to enforce a rule (told by shift supervisor) of "no more than 2 beers at a time per customer"--when customers wanted to "cash-in" rolls of tickets
  • disallowing a man from taking 3 beers (2 in his hand, 1 in his maybe-8-year-old son's hand)
On the last day I had work there, I broke any rules and simply followed "customer is right" to the ire of the shift supervisor--who promptly told me at the end of shift not to return the next year (to which I replied "thanks").

Nor does it have an option for those who do drink, but don't get drunk.

The problem isn't beer (or any other alcoholic beverage), it is what some do with it.
Jenn!
I doubt that certain people are immune from hangovers, they just don't drink enough to trigger one.

I've had 2-day hangovers in college. And yes, McDonalds is the way to go....

Um, I am going to venture to say that you have to poision yourself with enough alcohol to trigger a hangover. I am assuming this amount almost always crosses the drunken threshold. If you don't drink or don't drink enough to get drunk than of course you aren't going to get hungover. I don't care about these responses. I only want to know who does/did get drunk and experiences/experienced hangovers. My poll is fine.

Not really. Some people (myself included) suffer from migraines after drinking certain types of alcohol, including red wine. With me it takes half a glass of red wine to induce a head-splitting migraine. Some people (myself included) also have issues with an impaired ALDH enzyme which induces a mild to severe allergic reaction to alcohol. When I drink I almost immediately get hot and dizzy and my heart feels like it's going to jump out of my chest, though the reaction has never been serious enough for me to seek medical attention. If I drink too much...and too much for me is 2+ cans of beer...due to the enzyme problem I get nauseating headaches the next morning because I can't digest/metabolize alcohol properly. Strangely enough this problem usually affects east Asians (Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, etc) but I'm white. blink.gif All I can manage is a single can of light beer or a tiny amount of liquor without getting a headache the next day. Any more than that...or any red wine...and I'm in hell.

So...if someone had a bad headache the next morning or gets stumbly and flushed after only one drink, don't immediately assume they have a drinking problem.

The best way to avoid a hangover, or even avoid feeling rough after a few drinks for the over 30s ( wink.gif ) is to take Milk Thistle. It cleanses the liver so helps filter all those bad chemicals through. Take one before you start drinking, one before you go to bed, and one the next morning. I have never known anyone to suffer after taking this miracle supplement. Of course plenty of water helps too, and if you're into homeopathic remedies, Nux Vomica will work just fine.
rkl57
I swear by milk thistle!

And McDonalds.

From your post it certainly seemed that you did, though your point was as clear as mud.
LovinLiberia
I don't ever really drink. I have been slightly hungover one time after a wild night in Liberia, lol.
Nessa
When I was 17 I could go out and party, drink all night and stay out til like 4, 5am and wake up at 7 to go to college and I would have hangover for a couple hours, then everything would go back to normal. Now if I drink til like 11pm last night and get drunk I'll get hangovers for a day, sometimes I'll still feel bad for a second day. So te secret is: not to drink. Works like magic.
The person that creates the cure for hangover will be the richest man on Earth.

No, I believe there have been clinical studies showing that Denny's or Waffle House at 3 am (depending on which part of the country you live in) is the absolute best way to avoid a hangover laughing.gif
*Marilyn*
the only time I have been close to even being drunk was when I drank almost a whole bottle of Baja Rosa... I got really giggly ... and I almost fell in the toilet ..laughing.gif but I didn't feel hungover at all in the morning no0pb.gif

If I have one or two drinks, I might not get drunk (but ask Rey, I usually get at least tipsy) but I'll still get a hangover. I once had a hangover from one beer. I really should never drink, but since I went to college in Wisconsin, not drinking would have ruined four good drinking years of my life! wink.gif

Both of my unforgettable, awful, horrendous, torturous hangovers have been when I'm under 30..

oof, I'm recoiling from the memory.

The first one, funny enough, was when I was 17. I was running for a seat for the State of Florida College Democrats yes.gif ohmy.gif Some Teamster guy got me rip roarin drunk, I drank about 9 rum & cokes in an hour...got really ill...tried to keep up appearances (lest it get back to my family and their friends)...and I tried to fight off the sick feeling, then promptly threw up all over the room sad.gif

The next day, I was the keynote speaker on a riverboat cruise. Yeah, that worked well laughing.gif Dry heaving off the side of the boat!

To this day, not one more R&C!!!!!

The other time was in Germany with D...involved raw hooch that was still fermenting, absynthe, Jagermeister, and a bottle of Mickey Finn's that I bought at duty free. oooh that one was a doooooooooooozy!
Leney
I've never had a hangover. It may have something to do with the fact I have ice in every drink, and the water probably helps a bit.

I agree with Jen. Its flippin magic. About a month ago, I got bombed, then ate 4 double cheeseburgers and a mcchicken, and was completely sobered up in 1 hour. Mcdonalds works miracles.

Oh, does the grease chemically with the alcohol producing an insoluble hazmat (that's the only way I can conceptualise Mickey-D's sobering anyone)? laughing.gif

I don't get drunk too often anymore, so I rarely get hung over. Getting too old for that. This past Friday however, we had a farewell party for a co-worker at a local brew pub. I only had three beers over the course of 4 hours but the next morning it felt like I not only drank a 12 pack of the cheapest beer made, but that I washed it down with Jose Quervo.
