Are X-ray results asked from CR1 visa holders at POE?? My POE is LAX.

How long does it take one to go through immigration and customs at LAX for those arriving in the evening? My ETA is @740pm. Would a 2 1/2-hr. layover enough for me to get to my connecting flight?

It all depends on how many arriving international flights are arriving through the PoE. You might get through in 20 minutes or 2 hours.

I would leave yourself a few more hours than that just to be on the safe side.

You must have your x-ray with you at the POE. How long you gonna stay at the immigration? Depends of the how busy is at that moment, like other people say it can be between 20 min to 1h 30 min. Good luck!

Why? There is no one at POE medically qualified to interpret an x-ray.

Why? I do not know, they can pretend they are experts laughing.gif . I got instructions from the Consulate that the x-ray I must have it with me at the POE. good.gif

We bought the ticket for my SO with a 3 hour connection. It may sound like a lot of time but I have been on the line for 2 hours when a bunch of international flights arrived at the same time. He'll be coming to Chicago. Plus you have to check your baggage again.

I recommend a connection with enough time that you don't need to be stressed. Sometimes POE officers can get really chatty...

They didnt ask for my X-ray result in LAX. my connecting flight was Delta airline. I used PAL from Manila to LAX. I'm sure 2 1/2 hrs is enough to get to the next flight. make sure you just go immediately to the next terminal and pass through the next security check. Don't be shy to ask help from airport security staffs.

The only time Claudeth needed her xray was when we went to the civil surgeon, they wanted to do a new xray so we showed them the one from her medical.

Claudeth took about 45 minutes going through customs in LAX and that was due to a number of flights arriving at the same time.

The consulate in Montreal told me explicitly that it wouldn't be asked for at POE and that it was only for the reference of my new US Dr. I was told to give it to him/her upon my arrival for comparison if I ever had another x-ray.

I was specifically told at my interview that I could 'pack it (the x-ray) in your suitcase or throw it away, it's up to you!'

here is a link someone posted a while back it might be helpful in determining wait times based on the day/POE info.

My wife -- she was my fiance then -- for sure had to bring the X-ray from her pre-visa medical exam when she entered the USA. It was in the mysterious "sealed envelope". Why? Don't know. The POE people gave it to us. Right now, it is sitting at home and, I'm sure, we'll soon have another one will join it in a few months.

Thanks, everyone, for the replies!. I got to read them just before I left for the airport last Monday! I wasn't able to reply then as I was still busy packing. Anyway, I arrived at RDU, my final destination, with no hassle and no delay.

I was able to get out of the plane at LAX ahead of most of the passengers and approached someone at immigration who was directing passengers to booths where lines are about 10 persons long each, some of whom were probably from another flight. I showed him my MBE which he took together with my passport. He then led me to a booth at the farthest end which had no one in line. There were two immigration officers there, one asked for my customs declaration form and had me sign some papers and write my US address. Then she took my index fingerprint. The other one who was on the computer opened the MBE and probably reviewed the contents ( I didnt really notice), entered my data on the computer and also stamped and signed the 2-yr expiration of my CR1 visa. They handed me back my passport, customs form and one of the documents I signed (notice of removal of conditional permanent resident status). I was done with immigration in less than 5 minutes with no questions asked. My x-ray result was not even asked though I had it in my carry-on luggage in case they asked. They probably do not ask CR1/IR1 visa holders much questions, do they??

When I got to the conveyor, an airport crew was moving the baggages from the conveyor to the floor around it. I easily found mine among them. Got through customs without them asking for me to open them. I then left them at baggage drop-off for those with connecting flights and walked to terminal 5 for my connecting flight (delta). The walk took less than 10 mins. Got my boarding pass, passed thru security and was at the boarding area in less than an hour from the time I stepped off the plane.

Just need to wait for the SSN to be delivered.... and then relax for a year and and 9 months til the time to remove the conditions come?

Thanks, again, to all of you!
