I know this is a hot topic for the affidavit of support, I've searched some other posts but couldn't find an answer so I really hope this is isn't repetitious to all of you that read these and help blush.gif
I am filling out the I-134 form but on the line that asks for people I support in my house, I'm confused about what to put...I have two daughters that I support currently, however, my 18 year old will be off to college in a few months so do I include her in the form since she is living here now or do I leave her out since she will be gone when my fiance gets here..she will be supporting herself at that time.
Also, my co-sponsor makes above and beyond what is required but her employee won't sign a letter of employement on her behalf. She has worked for a major shopping center here in the states for over 15 years and holds a managerial position. She has access to her employee file, which has all the information needed, and printed that up, but can not obtain a signed letter. Her employer said that it is against their policy because she can take the letter and apply to a competitors shopping center for a better paying position. Is that going to be a problem? I have her 1040 and W-2s and this online HR form.
Thanks again for any help that you can give me. I really believe we would not even be looking forward to an interview date without the help that all of you here have given each other.

The general rule is count anyone that you claim as a dependent on your income taxes, so if you are counting your 18 year old as a dependent on your taxes, and plan on claiming the teenager next year tax time, then they are still a member of your household even when away at school.

The employer letter is optional, IRS data like 1040,W2, and 1099 are prefered, your co-sponsor can also provide recent pay stubs, they will show steady income.

whoa! Huge relief..thanks so much. I was definately confused about what parts were optional and what were manditory. I know I won't really need the co-sponsor until we are at the AOS stage but I want to send my fiance everything just in case....
Thanks for replying so quickly...I'm sitting here hitting my refresh key..staring at the computer...ha ha laughing.gif

Whoa! Yes, you will still need to satisfy the public charge issues at interview. If financial information is requested and your I-134 doesn't show sufficient income, you will need a co-sponsor's I-134 to get the visa. You'll need a co-sponsor's I-864 for AOS.
