Hey Guys,

I sent an email to NVC 2 days ago to find out if they (NVC) received my Wife's K3 petition. I got the following response:

Good Afternoon,

The visa petition you mentioned in your inquiry has recently been forwarded to the US Embassy/Consulate General. Please allow 10-15 business days for the Embassy/Consulate General to receive the petition.

To ensure a prompt reply on future inquiries, please include only one case per e-mail with the case number in the subject line.

Regards,
National Visa Center

Does this mean that the petition was sent to my Wife's home Embassy (Guyana)???

Thanks

YES that's what it means - that's what the NVC does with approved petitions so everything is going according to plan.

Damian,

They've sent it to some embassy or consulate, but it may not be Guyana - did they give you a DoS case number?

I don’t have a DoS case #...the thought came to ask after I hanged up the phone. I will call back.

However, I asked the NVC rep: 'The case was sent to Guyana?' and was told 'YES'

But this is a government agency so...well you know!

Your petition was probably sent to Guyana but you will need the case number to check the status with the Dept. of State (not NVC) going forward. The first three letters of your new case number will be the code for the Embassy or Consulate to which the case was forwarded.

The Case File was sent to Guyana and I also got the Case # (it starts with GEO)

Is there any way to check the status now or it is entirely in the hands of the GEO Embassy?

I guess i can email the GEO folks and find out the status.

Thanks!

At this point, I would give it a few days to arrive and then call Dept. of State at 202.663.1225 then menu 1-0-0. You want to know the case status. It should be "Loaded" now, meaning the electronic file has arrived but they haven't logged in the actual case as recieved on paper. The next status is "Open". P3 comes pretty quickly then. Always ask if there are any name/security checks pending. New ones can be ordered at several stages in the process.
