Everything necessary for a US citizen to start to the petition process can be found in the guides: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide

In Colombia you can get from your fiance:

Four copies of form G-325A form filled out and signed by her
Photos (see specs)
Letter of intent signed by her
Anything she may have that proves you two have met in the past two years to include in your petition

If these things apply to her:
Copy of final Divorce Decree(s) or Certificate(s)
Proof of Legal Name Change

To be safe you might also want:
Copy of her birth certificate - sometimes the US service center requests this

These are the only things you need to begin the process. If she doesn't currently have a passport, it would be a good idea for her to get this. Nothing needs to be notarized for the I-129F petition.

There are certainly other things she begin to gather together for later down the road at the interview and you can review those on the US Consulate website: http://bogota.usembassy.gov/wwwsck1visa.shtml.

Dannyj,

I strongly recommend translating any certificate you might have in Spanish and get several copies of it because you might need them down the road. Certified translations are A LOT cheaper in Colombia than they are here.

Be sure to document your relationship while you are there. Take a lot of pictures in different places. Take pictures with her and her family. Pictures are very important for the interview in Bogota (I suggest taking 20-30). Save all travel information, boarding passes, airline and hotel receipts, etc. Excellent idea to get the translations. Some things you can have her work on now that may be a pain in the rear later is, the baptism certifcate and the Certficate Migratorio (which may take up to 30 days to get outside Bogota). That's all I can think of.

I will echo what Diana and Tony said about the translations. Get them in Colombia if there is any way possible!!! I had to have some done here and they can cost $30.00 or more per page in the US! You will need all documents written in Spanish translated into English. Also, if the two of you have communicated by e-mail or IM in Spanish, you should get some of those pages translated, as well.

actually its just one copy g325a but it consists of four numbered pages. small misunderstanding unless you fill the 1st page and print and then make copies.
