I am trying to decide which immigration laywers to use to apply for the K3 visa for my spouse. Does anyone have any advice on who to use? Anyone have any good experiences with any particular immigration lawyers? I was thinking about using Holmes & Lolly immigration attorneys (http://www.fianceevisas.com/) any comments on them? Thank you in advance.

When I applied for my citizenship i used a lawyer which I really didn't need but it was my first time dealing with USCIS so i email AILA (american immigration lawyers association) and asked for recommendations and not only did they recommend but got a free consulation.
Check them out at http://www.aila.org/
btw: I applied for my wife's K# just by reading in this forum and didn't need a lawyer

Unless you don't feel comfortable organizing and handling the paperwork or you have an unusual circumstance involved in your case, there really is no reason to use any attorney.

If you choose to go with one, you should make sure they are a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and be sure to consult first and ask a lot of questions before making any commitment.

If your case is straight forward, then you don't need a lawyer for CR-1/K-3 process. This forum is an excellent resource for you.

Honestly I suggest that if you are fluent in english and dont mind having to deal with paperwork, do it yourself. Follow the guides under the Guides tab click K3 visa everything you need to know is there step by step. Sometimes when you use a lawyer it can take longer becasue the lawyer will not be ontop of things like you will be on your own case. Lawyer are to busy and dont have time to do shortcuts like generate barcodes and coversheets. its better if you do it on your own plus you save a ton of money. but if you do use a lawyer do your research and only use a lawyer not one of these immigration services that only help you fill out forms. there no good trust me.

I agree- unless you have any unusual circumstances, you don't need a Lawyer.

We had a good immigration lawyer for our K-1 but I advice against hiring one, we paid $2500. It is not worth the money. I could have handled the paperwork and the organization. We were so new back then with this kind of USCIS application and my fiance and I were too busy in love. smile.gif
I wish I had chanced upon useful forums like VJ before.
Plus, working with lawyers and paralegals added months of wait for me and my husband. They do not simply submit forms whenever we were ready, they go by clients' schedules of cases.
