Dear all friends,
I arrived USA by K1 visa, I applied for SSN and I had the Social Security card already but it showed the words "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION". It means I can go to work, but when it's expired?? Or I can work from now on and don't need to apply for any other document??
Now we get married and are preparing for the Adjustment of Status (apply for green card). Do I need to apply the form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization) for my work in the future???
If yes, it means the time to work allowed on the Social Security card must has the expiration, so when is the time of expiration??
If no, I was wondering if the process is such simple???
Thank you,
Hien

If you want to work before your Green Card gets approved then you need to apply for EAD. The K-1 Employment Authorisation is only valid for 90 days after you entered the USA, after that you are required to have a new EAD for an employer to legally employ you.
After you get your green card, EAD is no longer needed.

As the good Dr above said.... your K1 is only valid for 90 days, then you will need the EAD. So count 90 days from the 02/17/2007 and that is the day your employment authorisation runs out.
This process can be simple.... or it can be painfully hard... every case is differentl
