Not really, no, it's not OK.
You are supposed to spend as much time OUT as you did IN.
Come on over and give it a try, but be prepared to be refused entry and go home on the next flight. The VWP is not for living in the US, it is for visiting.
If you stayhome for awhile and work, and demonstrate that your ties to HOME are stonger than your ties to the US, then it's a good time to come back for another
visit.
It sometimes helps to remember that the typical annual vacation allowence in the US is 2 weeks. People don't generally take 6 months vacation.
