Glad it was smooth sailing, Mephibosheth! Yay!

I am glad that your daughter tested negative, Mammimaus.

I also feel all the time that I still need a vacation. LOL! As soon as my husband gets here there is more stress with buying another car and moving out of state and driver's license and SSN and blah, blah, blah. tongue.gif
tucson_chick
hi guys!

we will probably join you in your DCF endevours. right now we are in the waiting-period for our NOA2 of our K1, but Eric will be working in Germany for most of fall, and we are considering abandoning the K1 and instead to get married right away with a big ceremony around christmas and go for the DCF. that way we would hopefully get around the AOS,EAD and AP-crap.

we will call the embassy in frankfurt some time next week to ask them if that would be possible.

damn, i am so sick of this whole k1-crap. wink.gif

Mammimaus2007
@ WACKEN: Thank you smile.gif rose.gif

@tucson Chick: Yes it is possible to get married and file the DCF in Germany, since he is in Germany I would even recommend it due to the Fee increase of AOS plus it is faster and you will be over with until you have to file removal of conditions good.gif
MaydayDas
hello to all my friends

Mephibosheth, congratulations kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif did you get the visa in the mail?
Mammimaus2007
Hello Maydaydas how's life treating you in the states so far smile.gif we are getting closer and closer to the finish line and already packed most of our suitcases LOL, my hubby is leaving Saturday, thaks God he will still be here on Wednesday.
MaydayDas
Mammimaus2007, life is great thanks for asking...I finally got a nice job and things go pretty much in the right direction. What about you? Wed is the big day I bet you are nervous but the interview is the easiest part of the visa process......ironic, isn't it? Just relax, double check you have all the papers and try to get some sleep the night before good.gif
Good luck to you my friend
Mammimaus2007
thank you so much. I already went over all of my papers again today and let me tell you I actually need a moving box LOL no just kidding, I thought I am taking along all of the cards we wrote each other and the Photo Album.

One thing is on my mind bothering me big time but I hope it won't be a problem at the interview. My Co-Sponsor send everything required and she makes almost douple the required Poverty Guideline required, I have her recent Tax Return, her Birth Certificate, she also receives Retirement from her past away husband every month, so we also have that paperwork which is also in the Tax Return and she made well above Poverty in all three most recent Tax years the problem is she just send her most recent Paycheck stop and didn't see that she supposed to send six!!! Do you think that might be a Problem? if yes, could she Fax the 5 others?

I am a nerve wrack currently LOL.

Concratulations to your new Job MaydayDas
Mona_Greg
I was in Frankfurt too ... good.gif its almost 1 year ago !
MaydayDas
@Mona_Greg welcome

@Mammimaus2007. My sponsor was my husband and they asked only for the last pay stub. I had like 10-12 with me just in case they want more, I think they say something like the last 6 on the checklist but they ask only one. I suggest your co-sponsor to fax you the rest 5 of them, it is good to be safe than sorry.
lol I had a big fat folder with me at the Embassy, but I didn't take personal correspondence or stuff like that, only official letters from banks, insurance company etc. In your case I do not think it can be a problem with getting the visa, remember, your petition was approved in a few days wink.gif ...and please, try to relax laughing.gif
take care
Wacken
Congrats on the job, MaydayDas! That is sweet! Do you like it?

Good luck tomorrow, Mammimaus. I am sure it will all go over great.
tucson_chick
hi guys!

i have one question for you: how long must the USC reside in Germany to be allowed to do DCF?
my fiance will be working in a corporation between 2 universities in the US and in Germany for abt. 8 weeks this fall, in Bonn. Will that be enough?

thanks!!!!
Mammimaus2007
I have a question too. What does the Aktenzeichen Numbers mean on the german police record on the upper left side? it's a looooong Aktenzeichen Number? I have a clear record an have never been arrested for anything

Inhalt: KEINE EINTRAEGE

but I was just wondering if every police record hase a Aktenzeichen?

hurry with the answer LOL have my interview tomorrow morning.

I think it is the kind of permit he receives for living there, not how long he stays. He will need to provide a copy of his auftenhaltserlaubnis. It may be that he doesn't need one to do what he is doing because you don't need a residence permit to stay 8 weeks. They also may require other proof that you two lived together in Germany. I would call USCIS Frankfurt and ask.

QUOTE
U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) in Frankfurt processes I-130 Alien Relative Petitions by mail or in person if the petitioner (US citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States) is presently residing in Germany. PROOF OF RESIDENCE IN GERMANY IS REQUIRED FROM ALL PETITIONERS. A petitioner residing outside Germany should file Form I-130 on behalf of an alien relative at the USCIS or US Consular office having jurisdiction over his/her residence.
Wacken
Though I forgot that if you all are married then you could apply for the proper permit once he gets to Germany (or when you all marry in Germany?) and you all register him with the rathaus and ausländeramt.

I don't think the number matters, only if there are offences listed, Mammi.
Mephibosheth
still waiting for the visa...
my medical records went to the Embassy on Friday, so I should get the visa this week
I emailed them today to ask smile.gif (learned my lesson there)

@tuscon

I don't think it matters how long your husband lives in Germany, just that you're married, and that he has resident status in Germany (which, if you are married you can get in one day if he has acceptable health insurance)
Mephibosheth
My wife had been a resident in Germany for 1 day when we sent the I-130 to the Embassy smile.gif we never asked if that was ok. We were in Denmark before, but no one ever asked about that

For your husband to get resident status you go to the Einwohnermeldeamt/Rathaus and register him and then you go to the Ausländeramt and apply for the Aufenthaltserlaubnis on basis of marriage. I don't even think it costs anything if i remember right... they are just very particular about pictures and I'm not sure what the exact requirements for health insurance are, but any public German health insurance is acceptable for sure. If you marry somewhere else than in Germany, your marriage certificate needs an Apostile (Überbeglaubigung) which you get in the country of marriage, but we forgot and they didn't ask smile.gif (wouldn't recommend to push your luck though) oh, and btw getting married is easier in the US than in Germany (or in Denmark) though I don't even know what exactly you need to get married in Germany. Maybe he'll get residency through his job anyways?

BY THE WAY...

people looking for cheap flights... www.condor.de has really cheap ones and they are the only ones apart from icelandair that I know of, who sell cheaper oneway tickets

we bought tickets for the 5th of September for 379 Euro per person (one way, all included) from Frankfurt to Vancouver (Canada) .. then we'll take the car across the border

I'm flying CONDOR too because it will only cost me 640 EUROS for me and the 2 girls together inkl. TAX, well I have to add 10 Euro for one Kids Meal because Condor is charging you for Kids Meals or Seat reservations but that don't matter.

By the way!!!! I got approved yesterday kicking.gif kicking.gif it went totally smooth and I was worrying for nothing LOL I will write a Experience report next.
Mammimaus2007
Ok here its is, my Frankfurt interview experience yes.gif

Frankfurt is aproximatly 45 minutes away from us and my interview appointment was @8:00am so of course we left the house @6am laughing.gif (never know if you get into a traffic jam)

We (my hubby, my oldest daughter & me) arrived there like an hour to early so we went to Mc Donalds for 30 minutes and walked to the Konsulat to line up (a huge line) a Officer came and asked "whi is here for a VISA interview?"so everybody with a interview raised their hands and where asked to step to the side and all the way in front of the line yes.gif Cool so we don't have to wait until the other 100 people get in first LOL.
He gave us a ticket, I had Number W502 yes.gif

then we were asked to step in the security check point room (always 4 people only) take of your watch, a belt if you where one, hand them your purse etc. then walk through that whatever it's called thingy LOL take your stuff and proceed to the next building.

The first thing I had to do was taking my Dumbo Passport pics (which are cheaper @ the Consulate then outside!!!! 6 Euros for 4, in Aschaffenburg they cost you 12 Euros)

Then my number was called for Window 23 to turn in my Passport, my DS 230 Pt II (NOT SIGNED!!!) the Lady handed me a big brown envelope and told me while I wait for the next Window to put the stamps on the envelope and to put my mailing address on it. Then she handed me a green Letter with instructions how to have my Documents in order. I did the stamps part & the Address the rest I already did @home.

My number got called again for I think it was Window 17 but I wont lay my hand in fire for it LOL. The LAdy was absolutly nice and friendly, she asked me if I want to have the interview in german or in english, I replied in english due to my husband not understanding any german. She told me the order of the Documents she would ike to have one copy and the original, handed me the originals back, then she explained me the SSN thing but said ˙ou already know that right?" yes I did since I lived almost 6 years in the states yes.gif she handed me a Guide for New Immigrants "Welcome to the United States" wished us luck in the states and to take a seat for our final and actual interview with a Consular Officer.

After a few minutes of waiting my number got called again and we again had a very nice & frindly Officer. He told me that my papers are all in order and when we met, my husband grint and replied September 11th 2001 yes.gif luv.gif the Officer had to grin to because of the date but that is in fact the first time we where talking LOL
The we were asked were we intend to live and I replied first North Carolina and then we are going to Florida the Officer smiled and said he is from North Carolina and only a hour away from my hubbys hometown lol. He took my Fingerprints, had me sighn the DS 230 pt II explained me about the envelope and NOT to open it, also about the missing corner being normal and so on, then he wanted to know if I have any Questions I said No and he told me my Visa will arrive within a week as certified mail good.gif

SO I AM APPROVED!!!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif woohooo
Mammimaus2007
WOW that was fast!!!! the postman just rang the doorbell and I couldn't believe it, my VISA already arrived in the envelope together with the do not open envelope kicking.gif kicking.gif

now we are all set and just have to concentrate on selling our stuff and book the ticket HOME!!!! Florida we are coming good.gif

Hi Mammimaus,

that is super awesome! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! That was really quickly. I hope my case proceeds that fast as well. Your description puts my hopes up as well. Especially your time line! ;-)) Just one quick question: the husband does not have to be there, right? Do you know if I can bring someone else as "mental support"?

I had my medical exam in Dortmund today. It went super smooth and I can only recommend the panel physician in Dortmund. Everybody in that office was super nice and things went well. :-)

Hallo Mammimaus,

Thanx for the info! I am really hoping for a soon interview date. ;-) Your report of your interview is really helpful. It doesn't seem like anyone is trying to get you to deny the Green Card. that is good to know and I'll try to be as relaxed as possible! ;-)
As soon as I hear anything from the consulate, I'll let you know.

Cheers!

Hi,
so far, we haven't heard back from Frankfurt, not even if the petition was approved ... We sent an email out last Monday, but haven't heard back from them. Then we just tried to call them but we were forwarded to some machine again :-( ... Does any one of you know a number which we can call and talk to a REAL person about my application status? This is really frustrating not getting a hold of someone. ...

Sx for your help! :-)
julchenno12

Hello!
ok, the panik attack from yesterday was too early. ;-))
We just got a letter in the mail today from the Consulate with the Interviewdate!! Yay!! It all went sooo quick. Just after 1 1/2 months after the petition!! That was sooo quick. I am sooo happy. :-) My husband is leaving next Wednesday and it seems like I can follow soon ... yay!!

Congrats everyone! kicking.gif

My husband flew in yesterday. He said POE took less than five minutes, barely anything was said, more going through the motions than anything else.

We're now trying to buy him a car. smile.gif
Mephibosheth
wow julchen... almost can't believe it can go so fast...

I'm in the states since wednesday now... POE was interesting... first borderguard was super rude and ignorant, my sister in law who picked us up in vancouver had only her drivers liscence with her and apparently that's not really enough anymore for americans in canada... she got in anyway though, but first after some harsh preaching from the guard... he didn't know what to do with me, but eventually he asked someone and we were sent inside, where there were more friendly people, though a little slow... I gave my finger prints in actual ink even though they had one of those digital scanners... dont know why. Took like 30 minutes, but mostly because the guy was tired and slow

job interview tomorrow smile.gif
Mammimaus2007
Concratulations kicking.gif kicking.gif that was really fast good.gif the rest is a piece of cake and you will be in the states faster then you think LOL

Our POE will be Orlando,FL yes.gif finally got our tickets for unbelievable 597 Euros incl. everything for my two girls and me together and it is a Nonstop flight too, I think I love Condor LOL
julchenno12

yeah, I can't believe it either ... amazingly fast ... I am soo happy and looking forward to be done with the interview! ;-)

Good luck on the job interview - which should actually be over by now ... ;-)) Hope it went well!

wow, awesome price on the tickets. good.gif have a good flight over to Florida!

I really hope that the rest will be a piece of cake as well. the interview appointment is at 7.30am. I will get a hotel room the night before (it is a little too far to drive from Köln) and be there on time.
right now I thinking of flying by mid-october. Have to get some stuff done here (paperwork) and rid of before leaving (car, other things, etc.) ... but I am soo happy now and relived that we won't be apart for months, but just for a few weeks ... yay! biggrin.gif

Mammimaus2007
Well since I red "THE SECRET"a whole lot of amazing things are happening to us LOL I think it is because we are finally going the RIGHT way!!!!

With the flight, I don't know WHAT made me check on the Price for that specific day again, the days before the flight was 1050 Euros for the 3 of us and all in the sudden they had a one day special and only 3 Seats available 597 Euros I couldn't believe it myselfe. My Mom now worries that this might be a very old Airplane LOL

About my Hubby, I think he has the Job dancin5hr.gif they way he was talking about it how the interview went, they asked him if he is also interested in Management and told him about the Bonus after 3 month and took the Background check info down to get it done Quick and on Tuesday they want him to come back so they can show him the whole Warehouse and introduce him to the Managers, doesn't that sound like he has the job?

@julchenno I'm so happy for you, I didn't like the idea to be seperated from my hubby for long either Good Luck @the interview

I can't wait to sit in the plane and arrive @the POE get that over with and HUG my husband.

hi guys!

i just wanted to let you know that we just received an email from the embassy in frankfurt that the 6-month-rule will take place from now on.

we are really really frustrated, especially as this screws up all our weddingplans as we will have to stick to our k1.

but, anyway, here's the info: 6-month-rule of residency applies at the frankfurt embassy.

Well hello everyone,..

thought I would pop in here and say hello,.. I was in a few months ago, asking questions to help out my friend Tinki.

Well now its my turn. I have to lodge i-130's for my daughters. I already have 10yr green card and all is fine with me,..but because they only came to live with us here In germany in 2006, I have not had to deal with USCIS for them yet. My hubby is deployed, and not due home til early January. We found out tonight that his pcs date has been brought forward 3 months from Late april, to late January. So now, Im tearing my hair out. I just sent the USCIS an email with a million and one questions, and am now frantically preparing forms and the like,..

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh headbonk.gif

Editted to add....Apart from the 2 x $355, I am going to have to fork out,..is there any other fees, visa issuance fee?, and can anyone give me an idea of how much the medicals may cost roughly?

Thankks everyone
Mammimaus2007
@jodee besides the 2x$355 there is also 2x125 Euros (medical if in Frankfurt) and 2x $380 to be paid @the interview

BUT!!!!! Your husband is in the military so you will get all of this money back biggrin.gif

Good Luck,
Mammimaus

Hey guys,

I guess I can say it in the good old German way "zu frueh gefreut"! I just got a call from the consulate. The girl on the phone said that they were waiting for the petition to "come down" (whatever that means - I guess it is on someone's desk sleeping) and therefore they have to cancel my interview appointment for Thursday. She said that otherwise they have everything and I shouldn't worry. Great! According to her it will take 4 - 6 weeks until I get a new appointment! How can that happen? How can they send out interview appointments although they don't know if their paperwork is ready?! Unbelievable! I hate bureaucracy! :-((
Now my husband is already in the states, I am here not knowing when I get that stupid appointment and when I can fly over. :-(

Julchen *very very upset**

That is lame that your interview date was cancelled. I hope you get another soon.

My husband has yet to get anything from USCIS in the mail. We had to drive through Canada this weekend. The Canadian immigration officer had some sand in her nether regions and was trying to play US immigration officer. She kept saying his stamped visa was invalid and he would not be allowed to enter the US. Where was his I-94, she screamed like a possessed harpy. When I tried to stop getting her to be a biitch long enough to read the visa ->I-551, she just said 'I am not going to talk to you. This proves nothing. Go to the immigration office.'. Fun times when the officer there said well, she was wrong and wasted an hour of our time. What the hell does that have to do period with *entering* Canada? Agh. Then when we drove back across the border, the US immigration officer just looked at his I-551, said OK, and that was it. About 1 minute.

I hope you all have some decent news. tongue.gif

Good luck with your interview! smile.gif

I am doing OK. However, I think someone does not want me to own a car.

Car 1: Died.
Car 2: Odometer fraud.
Car 3: A thankfully well insured driver killed it ten days after we bought it. Still getting all of that straightened out.

Car 4 is in the works...

Julchenno12, good luck to you on Friday! Come back with good news good.gif

Wacken, what's up with you and cars?????? devil.gif old cars are like a lottery, the best is to buy a newer one, still in warranty. Good luck !
