@Maydaydas
Yeah, I think this has been the only time the Deutsche Post has failed me, but then of course when it really counts. My best guess is that the streets got mixed up... We got a letter a while back that was for somethingstieg 39 when our address is Aurikelstieg 39, same zipcode... I then walked their letter over to their mailbox since it was 2 minutes away. I guess whoever got our letter just returned it to the postoffice?!?! I don't know.. I did call the customer line and complained and even talked to one of the postmen one morning, but he was rather shy and said that it always switches who delivers where. Well.. here's waiting for the interview date should come this week i guess (funny fact - In American thinking the week starts with Sunday, whereas in German thinking the week starts on Monday so is tomorrow this week or next week?)

Hello,

Just curious, any of yall military or military dependents? If it applies, if I was TDY in germany for like 4 months, would I be able to get my hubby to the US through DCF in Frankfurt using my orders? It seems so much quicker to process a greencard through the embassy than stateside. wacko.gif Im really impressed at the time frames here.
Mammimaus2007
I was just browsing thru some DCF postings and found one in France that made me wonder. Is it possible that France is working so much faster?
manuidf78

her or his I-130 was approved in 8 days and they filed in June????? how in the world was that possible to get it approved that fast with the Adam Walsh law? they even have the interview appointment already. I am so happy for them but wonder why it takes way longer everywhere else? blink.gif

My hubby is flying to the states September the 1st to already start working and to rent a house etc. I just hope we don't have to wait till next year to join him because my girls would miss to much of the school year unsure.gif

By the way for everybody looking for cheap oneway tickets, try ABCtravel, we got a ticket for my hubby for $380 including all Taxes!!!! good.gif
Mephibosheth
so, I sent the forms with a trackable number this time and according to the Deutsche Post, my letter has been lying in the inbox of the embassy at the postoffice in Frankfurt since Saturday... Does the embassy not retrieve their mail every day? (Like Monday or Tuesday?) I emailed again today.... Wacken, you sent your form DS230 as email? is that right? Did you just send the pdf? Didn't know they would except that.
Wacken
Yeah...

First we tried to mail it...never got there.

Then we tried to fax it twice...never got there.

I e-mailed them "WTF?" They said to scan and email it to them. Had to do that twice because my husband cut corners. But they finally accepted and they had my husband scheduled for a date immediately. They remembered me from my e-mails at the interview... Haha!

I am not military and have no idea what TDY is supposed to mean, but if you have acceptable orders to be in Germany (and you are there at the time of filing), you may file.

Question is you still are in Germany in TDY or you gone already? In order to do DCF you have to reside in the foreign country......Do you have a SOFA stamp for Germany? Please call USCIS Frankfurt 06975352233 maybe you are allowed to file there.
Good luck to you good.gif
Mammimaus2007
If you have a Sofa Stamp you are able to. My husband is a Civilian Employee and has a Sofa Stamp and we where able to file DCF

good thing is if you are Active Duty you will get all of your Fee's back from uncle Sam

not only active duties can get the fees back, my husband is civilian for the army, like yours, and my visa fees were included in the PCS reimbursement.....so I already got my money back from uncle Sam...plus the plan ticket biggrin.gif
Mephibosheth
So... we're not gonna get any money back smile.gif we're not military....

I checked the status of my letter today, and the status info is sorta funny:

"Die Sendung wurde zur Abholung durch den Empfänger bereitgestellt und von diesem am 30.07.2007 abgeholt. Achtung: Das angezeigte Zustelldatum weicht eventuell vom tatsächlichen ab (das handschriftliche Datum auf dem Auslieferungsbeleg war nicht eindeutig lesbar)."

If you don't know German:"The mailed item has been made available to the recipient for pick up and was picked up by the same on the 30th of July, 2007. Attention: The shown date of delivery might vary from the exact date (the handwritten date on the delivery receipt was not clearly legible)."

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA crying.gif
WT* BBBBBBBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP??????????

plus, when i checked yesterday on the 31st, it said it was still at the postoffice! I don't get it.... Now I'm waiting to hear from the embassy.. if they don't write soon, I might just scan in and email the forms.... so glad i made copies right now.

Awesome good.gif well my husband didn't had any orders to Germany, he came over as a tourist and applied @AAFES so I guess we won't see any money back crying.gif But oh well, that is fine.

Still haven't gotten a Reply on my EMail that I wrote to Frankfurt blink.gif so I guess they are taking there time on everything right now, if we would live in France I would already be booking my ticket since I would be done blush.gif

Maydas how long did you wait for your Tax transcript to arrive? since I guess you got a APO Address too? the lady on the phone told us 10-15 days.

Question: Does anybody know how to change the Address on the Papers? we have to change it to my Mother in laws Address until my husband find us a house, the address on the immigration papers was a friends that has now moved!!!
MaydayDas
Mammimaus2007 congratulations for the interview date good.gif I had the same problem like you with the address: on DS-230 part 2 you will put the new address in the States and when they ask you which one will be the address USCIS will send you the Green Card you just tell them the new address and they will delete the address on DS-230 part 1.
Mammimaus2007
Awesome, I thought we have to fill out a change of Address Form or something like that lol. We have been specialist on change of Address Forms since we moved about 5 times in the states LOL
MaydayDas
laughing.gif
no, your husband, the sponsor, have to use the change of address form if you are in the States and you move wink.gif
Mammimaus2007
yes that is correct but also the Greencardholder always hast to file a change of address after a move until you are a US Citizen

It is Form AR-11
(AR-11, Alien's Change of Address Card
This card is to be used by all aliens to report a change of address within ten days of such change. The collection of this information is required by Section 265 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1305). The data isused by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for statistical and record purposes and may be furnished to Federal, State, localand foreign law enforcement officials. Failure to report a change of address is punishable by fine or imprisonment and/or removal.)

most Alien's don't do it but especially having a pending petition AOS, removal of conditions etc. it would be smart to do it LOL

Mephibosheth
Hey Mammimaus

good luck for your interview as well... hope all goes smooth smile.gif
tinki
Mephibosheth and Mammimaus good luck on your interviews.

That is so funny with the petition being approved only a few days after filing. Maybe I should check, since I put in the DS 230 Part I at the consulate in person as well.
However, this wouldnt be too god, since my husband is not on his orders yet and wont be until february...I just filed already, to save th money on the petition, thinking it would take about 3 months for the petition to be approved anyways.

Oh well, so I can just lean back and wait to fax them that Im ready for the interview... cool.gif

Mammimaus, when I filed the DS 230 Part I, I didnt write down an address in the US at all. The lady there told me that I would have to have the address by the time of the interview, though.
Just to reconfirm that you dont have to worry about this!
Mammimaus2007
What a reliefe that it wont be a big deal to change the Address innocent.gif

Yes Tinki, they will be waiting for you to send the Fax, so just wait until you got everything together and then Fax since you are not in a hurry. I am actually kinda glad that we waited since our Co-Sponsorts changed and I still had to do a million things and still waiting for my 2004 Tax transcribt since we have NO clue what we made 2004, just 2005 & 2006 LOL
MaydayDas
Tinki, Mammimaus2007 was a special case to be approved so fast, she had a Green Card before. You did good to start the process even if you do not have the orders yet. Actually, Frankfurt Consulate encourages people to start the process before getting the PCS orders in order for the USC to can take the foreign spouse with when it is time to move. Fax the checklist asap, in the moment Frankfurt gets your fax they will start the administrative process for the visa section so you will get your appointment date sooner once they get the approved petition.
Well, it is just a matter of time to have the visa in your passport so just relax and endure the time passing biggrin.gif

Mammimaus2007, you need the tax returns only for 2006 but you have to put down on the affidavit the amount for the last 3 years. But if you do not know the amount.......

Good luck to all of you good.gif
Mammimaus2007
yes I think so too, that my case was approved so fast only because I already had the Greencard not to long ago and all of my info is of course still on file and also my fingerprints lol.

yes the IRS Lady said we will receive the tax transcript within 10-15 days that has already been over a week ago I think so hopefully they will arrive before the 29th since my husband also has to close the APO Box soon and we have to return our ID Cards wacko.gif

we received the Interview appointment letter today with all the info. Are they actually putting the pic with the two ears showing on the greencard? laughing.gif I gonna look like Dumbo laughing.gif my previous Greencard only needed a photo with one ear showing LOL

we did send out our first 4 of 25 boxes over US Mail, that really saves alot of money compared to the german Postal service!!!! we paid $70 for them, tomorrow 5 will follow and my hubby already got 3 interview apointments and two rental houses to look at in September luv.gif oh I am sooooo exited.
MaydayDas
and you will be called Mammidumbo biggrin.gif .....Shipping from the APO address is a lot much cheaper so ship as much as you can until you close the PO Box. keep some stuff to take them with you on the plane, you allowed to have 1-2 bags per person so it will save you some money. Good luck for your husband to find a job and a house soon good.gif you guys flying the whole family or your husband gonna go ahead to find a job and place to stay?

Hey,
quick update on our filing process:
we went down to Frankfurt on Monday and filed the DCF ... we were a little frustrated being sent
up and down the stairs ... bureaucracy ... you gotta love it! ;-)) But everything went well ...

We noticed that it is helpful to bring information on parents' addresses and biographic information.
Also: bring a pen! ;-))

Now we are waiting ...

Does anybody understand those Titer Test Results? got mine but after reading it I really don't understand it and I couldn't call the Doctor for info since it is Saturday.

It's my Titer Test on Varicella (chickenpox)

It Says: (just got it in German)

Test: Varic. -IgG(ELISA) Ergebnis ausserhalb des Normbereichs 24.9

Beurteilung:

<6.0 (grenzw. 6-9) VE
Mephibosheth
well as far as i understand it means you had the chickenpox(varicella/windpcken) and actually, the doctor in Frankfurt will just believe you if you say you had them as a kid (if you know for sure) I found that out cause I called them and i was there yesterday and they did believe me... i did have a copy of my titertest for rubella and measels though, since I had done that one anyway a few years ago and I found out that i need to get another shot of tetanus and polio (only good for 10 years and I had it last in 96), which I'm allowed to do now back in Hamburg anywhere I want and then i just send proof to Frankfurt that I did it.
Mephibosheth
sooo... I had my interview yesterday and it went well... here comes the full, overly detailed account, may it help those who come after me

I took the train from Hamburg to Frankfurt dep. 00:25 arrival 5:29 - saved money on staying overnight, but paid with grogginess.
At the train station in Frankfurt, I put my cellphone in the locker and paid 2 Euro for 24 hours... The English instructions actually said that you were not allowed to put cellphones or money and jewelry in there, but the German instructions didn't say that, and so I risked it (especially since it's not the nicest phone and I can't use it in the US anyways (wrong frequency)) And it was still there in the afternoon.

I bought an all day ticket for the public transport system in innercity Frankfurt (zone 50, includes doctor and embassy) for 5.40 Euro. Then I took the S train to the innercity and searched for my Bank (Dresedner Bank) and found it eventually and I checked out how much money I had and took out all I could (not much) just to make sure I had enough. I found the Lidl store, but it was open yet of course (I had looked up grocery stores in Frankfurt ahead of time and put them on the little map that the embassy had sent in Packet 4) I then took the subway to the doctor and got there around 7am and I had been there earlier if I hadn't purposefully walked the wrong way for a bit smile.gif I was the first one there, but soon others came.. . The door was locked and it said it opens at 8, but I was supposed to be there at 7:30 and sure enough a little after 7:30, the door was buzzed open. I was first in line (there were about 4-5 others by then) and the whole medical took about one or one and a half hours.
-First waiting, then going upstairs
-Fill out a form on medical history
-Payment (125 Euro), turn in vaccination records, sign for permission to take HIV test
-then in the basement - urin test, xray, blood test (HIV),
-then upstairs - doctor's exam with clothes off except underwear
(breathe in, breathe out, stick your tongue out) and eye sight testing
I was informed that I had to get my polio and tetanus vaccination freshened up since it's good for 10 years and I had mine in 96 last time, but that wouldn't be a problem. Also, the doctor took my word for it when I said I had chickenpox as a kid (I called beforehand and asked if he would) so... now I still have to see a doctor (in 2 days I will) and get those vaccinations which I will fax proof of to Frankfurt to the doctor and then they will send in their stuff to the embassy, so it's just a delay of a few days.

Since I had sufficient time, I stopped by Lidl to get some food an drink, as I hadn't packed enough for the day

Then off to the Embassy with the Subway and arrived right on time (9:30)
First to the line on the left where I showed my passport and appointment letter and got a number, then the line on the right where people were waiting to be waved in through security...

While i was waiting for security i saw a person getting back their cellphone from security personal upon leaving the embassy, which I thought curious since I was under the impression that they would send you away if you had one on you (and I warn you that I wouldn't risk it, since that's what they say in the letter, but it seems like they might make exceptions at times, also another ladies handbag was kept at security because she had something in it that wasn't allowed (not sure what)
Out of the security building to the next building which looked totally different than I imagined. Didn't see anybody at the desk and continued, was then approached by a lady from behind who asked to see my number and advised me on where to sit (in the back, to the right) I asked her for where the bathrooms are and she said behind the pink wall.

This building is sort of like an American Driver's License bureau except nicer. Very bright with a window roof and light colors and very clean. There's a coke vending machine and a stamp vending machine and some more stuff which i didn't really take notice of... lots of chairs (300?) in the middle, facing the right side, about 25 windows, mostly on the right side where interaction with the embassy employees took place. The bathroom door had a handle, but to my slight shock opened automatically upon approaching (also I now remember the door to the building was so heavy that I had trouble controlling it with one arm, and I'm by no means weak)

When I left the bathroom, I already noticed my number on the screen and went to window 20 something, (a German lady who started conversation in English, but was glad to see my German passport) gave her my DS 230 part II and passport, she gave me a paper that told me how to put my forms in the correct order (I had put them in order already as it tells you how to order them in packet 4) And the envelope which I would get my passport in - BTW.. the whole day I had to carry this huge envelope with me that had the x-ray of my chest... (about 16 inches by 16 inches (45 cm by 45 cm)) from my medical exam and I was instructed to carry it with me in my hand luggage when I went to the states and hand it over to the immigration officer. She then instructed me to pay at the next window.

I went there and I don't know where they guy was from, but he spoke English with some sort of accent I couldn't identify. He said "DENMARK smile.gif))" (which, I was born in Denmark, but why could he see that and not my German residence and passport?) "Did you come from Denmark today?" We had some small talk and it was hard to hear all he said, especially with the number of kids in the lobby that were not ashamed to vent their frustration at the waiting (one mom told her kid "tell 'em, you tell 'em") He asked me if was feeling sick, which i thought curious and said "no, why are you asking?" He said my face looked kinda.... and I told him i traveled over night, then he also pointed to the band aid on my arm and remembered himself that I probably had gone to a medical. He was nice and I paid 305 Euro (380 USD equivalent) , but when I went back to waiting I wondered if all his questions were supposed to make sure I wasn't drunk or on drugs (did my face really look that awful ?!?!?)

I then had to sit back down, got a stamp from the machine for my envelope and put on my parent's address since we're hoping to be there before we fly. I was called up again to another window eventually and there turned in my birth certificate and copy and police records and I-864s and the lady went over my DS-230 part I with me to make sure it was correct. She asked a few questions, like if the cosponsor was related to me, to which i said "no, he's a good friend of ours" (someone else had already asked that as well) She told me she didn't need my marriage certificate since she already had it and asked if i had been in armed service, which i hadn't (Zivildienst does not count) She gave me a paper with info on Social Security numbers and a booklet with info for greencard holders (funny to me since I hadn't been interviewed yet) She also asked when I was expecting to travel. I said I originally hoped to travel on the 29th of August, but since I wasn't sure if I'd make it, probably the 4th of Sept.... she put down the 4th of September and I wondered quietly if they process your stuff faster if you name an earlier date or why they ask.

She then told me to sit back down until the consular would call me up for the interview, which would happen by means of the same number I had all through my embassy stay. Then I waited again and noticed that the couple in front of me seemed to have some sort of difficulties (with embassy stuff) which were resolved however to their great relaxation. Eventually I was called up again, the consular officer, obviously American, started in German, to which I replied in German but soon he switched to English. He asked if I swore to the truthfulness of my info in the DS 230 part II and had me sign it, he took my index finger prints digitally and that was basically it. He said I would get my passport in about a week but that they would have to get the medical records first.

All in all it took about 1:30 hours at the embassy and I then went to get my cellphone from the main train station and waited 5 hours for my train ride... sooooooooo.....
we shall see how soon we can realize the trip smile.gif)))

thanks again to everyone here for bearing with me smile.gif

I think I will be more relaxed after the 29th unsure.gif I called the Panel Physician yesterday to make him aware of my (nierenbeckenentzuendung) since my Proteins in the Urin will show a positive 100% they told me to get Well soon but to be on the safe side I will also take the Papework of my UTI with me to the Interview since by then it should be gone anyway unsure.gif

I am so glad when all the stress is ove with and I can finally enjoy my last month in Germany whistling.gif but I really had so much stress lately but also received good news on my Baby girl that was tested on San Fillippo Syndrome (MPS III) and a negativ came back, with that fear of her having that I spend weeks crying and fearing and then the moving stress with shipping out boxes, the trouble with our first Co-Sponsors and what not all, I really need some Vecations and Rest @ the Beach yes.gif

After my process we have to get a Visitor Visa for my Mom since she wants to help us settle and staying with us for 5 month.
